The new revision - AUAV-X2 is ready. I performed all tests today - flashing bootloaders, flashing firmware, configuration, sensors test, receiver test, airspeed sensor test, servo tests, power tests, log tests, temperature tests, etc. It seems the "IRON" AUAV-X2 performs just fine. More pictures will follow.....

Nest week I'll fulfill all current preorders.

Best regards

Nick

  • @gervais, sorry, I wasn't clear, my problems are standing still or on the bench. It keeps drifting upwards, a lot. Much more than a PH.

  • @Patrick: I fly Arducopter, latest version 3.3-rc1,using Mission Planner (Not APM Planner!) without any probs, as I posted already @ the related thread. You won´t find too much people using QGC with native stack.

@Steven, usually Altitude stability probs are related to light , propwash (wind related), since the MS5611 Baro sensor (same as PIXHAWK) is very sensitive, so its strongly recommended to cover it with black Hi Density foam. Vibrations are an issue too, if the damping doesn´t work as required.

  • I have altitude stability problems that we are trying to sort out. Nick appears to think it could be FW related. I fly APM:Plane and MP. Best for Nick or Phil to answer but that's my two cents.

  • Nick or anyone,

Just wanted to verify that this board is compatible enough with Pixhawk that I can flash and configure it with latest Ardupilot F/W using Mission Planner instead of QGC?  I'll be modifying and compiling my own code changes off the master branch so wanted to ensure the AUAV-X2 works with 'stock' F/W out of the box.

    Thanks very much

  • Thanks very much Gervais!

  • No big deal, Patrick. As you see in the 3rd and 4rth pic above its easy to connect a 3DR Telemetry Radio @ SER1 or 2. So you can use Droidplanner for Android radio Groundstation e.g. for Waypoints / Floow me what ever or Mission Planner for PC better for tuning or callibration apps.

At the pic below, you see my radio mounted @ the bottom of the F450 frame, and my Phablet mounted on my RC Tx.

  • The AUAV-X2 looks great.  Has anyone by chance used it with Droidplanner over wireless telemetry to fly waypoints?

  • Yes, its a nice small size PIXHAWK replacement. Works great. No reason to buy a chinese clone anymore. I created some quick start pics for it, which might help.

mzhw592v.jpgSmall "candybox housing" with foam pads. Depending on the setup, 3DR soft foam pads for the PIXHAWK or Moongel might work better.

gb7zsuu3.jpgMounted on a Bumblebee frame. Probably better to add some holes above the STM32F427 and below SD card holder, which acts as an heatsink. The housing stl files , Nick is offering, already contain vent slots.

  • Hi all,

    just a quick feedback:
I mounted the board on my quadrocopter, used mission planner to flash the latest arducopter firmware, did all calibrations and some mandatory settings and went for a few flights.
The board (and firmware AC3.2-rc12) works absolutely flawless, altitude hold, loiter, everything's perfect.
Just make sure vibrations at the IMU are as little as possible and use an external compass mounted far away from magnetic noise.

    Thanks for the great work.

    Best regards,
