Burning Man From Above

Here's a little video I've put together from the recent Burning Man, which is a week long ~50,000 person arts festival held in the Black Rock Desert in Nevada.

I shot it using my small homemade tricopter with a hard mounted gopro using FPV.

  • Sweet! Thanks. Perfect choice to describe this event from the air!

  • Ellison, yes pretty much everything gets burned. When the man burned this year, it spawned maybe 70 tornados out of its enormous fire! Was rather special to witness. I believe the sinking ship was just dismantled, but it really is a work of art I hope to see there again.

The music is "The XX - Night Time (Synkro remix)"
I've been using Synkro tracks for most of my aerial videos :)
  • Awesome footage of this otherworldly event! Thanks for sharing.

PS: What's the music? Perfect choice of music!

  • Also, do they really burn everything down at the end of the show?

  • Thanks, for sharing these vids guys.  We don't see too many deserts where I'm am except those snow deserts in the winter, when it's too cold to fly. Brrr.

  • Nice!!! have fun traveling!! cheers :)

  • On a bus in Costa Rica right now, but thanks for the offer. I'll try and make it back for next year's burn!
  • oh, are you in SF now?? Im flying tomorrow morning with the 12 motors.. let me know if u wonna join ;)

  • I wont be coming to decompression unfortunately. I'm traveling central america for the next 4 months so shipped my copter and gear back to nz before leaving san fran. Sucks to have to wait till then to fly again, but gives me time to plan what the next copters to build will be :)
  • Hi Glann,

thanks! im glad you like it!

It wasnt me flying at the man burn or the temple burn, I know there where a few out there, there was a 1 rotor copter at the man burn, good pilot!! :)

I used FPV at night, but was looking at the copter directly all the time, i had a few EL wire lights on it!

Are you coming to decompression? im thinking to bring the copter to fly.. depending on the wind etc...

    cheers!

    Ziv.
