Well I bought what is going to be my first UAV a SkyFun and a battery for it. On the first charge it swelled up like the Michelin man. It is a Turnigy nano-tech 3.0 3000mAh 25-50C charged by a dynamite charger at 1A.
Picn! Glad you were watching it. I presume you quickly took it outside and left it for a good while before disposing it? I've known then to go bang 30 minutes after expanding!
Get FMA Cellpro 4s or 10s charger. It's automatic and charges directly from Lipo's balance leads. No chance for anything like that. With a proper charger you can easily charge a 3000mAh battery with 3A or 1C.
Don't go cheap on a charger and risk your home or workplace.
Yeah I saw the US warehouse it makes my life a lot easier. The one that arashi recommended is at the USA one so I might be getting that since the one Chris recommended seems to not be available here in the US. Spending 20-30 on shipping for a order that is under 150 really sucks.

It's called a Dynamite Charger because it makes LiPos go *BOOM*
Sorry, I realise that wasn't helpful but I couldn't help myself.T.D.
fortunately (?) I never experienced such an experience. But I always charge my lipos in a metal box (there are lipo safe bags too).
I never leave inside my house (or car) a crashed one, they stay in quarantine outside some days, before going inside to decide how to handle them.
Batteries requires care. This probably is the good reason for people never having batteries problems (cross finger :D ).
Best regards,
Ric
