Peter, your argument makes no sense. Technically you are correct because of the few number of drones. Cars are everywhere and run on streets that have crosswalks lights ect. Its not a matter or banning or not, it's a matter of common sense. If people continue to do stupid shit they will be band or only available to a few with time and money. Why am I wasting my time, you don't get it and never will.
Peter, it's not just a safety issue, it's an image one. Drones are already a sensitive thing to the public at large who only know them from military applications and privacy issues. As hobbyists, researchers and developers, we need to be *especially* cautious with our machines because in the current political climate, a single high-profile accident caused by negligence could tank our efforts and be used by the media/politicians to prove that our hobby is dangerous and should be heavily regulated/banned.
While I agree that the risk for damage or injury can be low while correctly managed, we have to remember that it is still there, and we have to show that we are taking every precaution towards making the practice safe. One thing we absolutely shouldn't do is run around telling people how flying lawnmowers are perfectly safe!
Christ sake can't someone enjoy a little fun without someone butting in with stupid non-exisistant safety issue! If the dam things are that unreliable they should be banned! I think the odds of being hit by a car are a hell of a lot higher than having a hexacopter fall on your head! You need to get a life and quit whining!
Sorry but I am so sick of people whining about issues that have no significance in life. I can think of a hundred other dangerous issues you could be using to scare the public with...
As soon as i saw the pic video from the main page I knew you were in a for a blasting by the community re safety...but putting that aside for a moment, I did enjoy the video and it does express a dream many of us have that flying robots will be capable of tasks like this (and much much more) in the future.

i think Greg is right.
The kids were just having fun. The guy is a good pilot or he would not have got it out the door. I liked the prop guards
What a minute,...they have Starbucks over there?
Very nice! Although it's obvious that the cup was empty. Either that or you have a really good and responsive alt hold :-)
With a little more thought this could have been JUST a fun video.
Peter, attitudes like that is what turns perfectly safe hobbies into safety issues.

Warning: Your coffee may be hot... And falling...
Lol. Entertaining, but a little too staged ;)
