Interest Groups Simultaneously File Three Lawsuits Challenging FAA's UAV Interpretation

AP: Three lawsuits have been filed today challenging the FAA interpretation that effectively blocks commercial UAV operators as well as FPV flyers of any kind.

The lawsuits were filed by the AMA, the COGR and various commercial operators groups.

It has been widely reported that the interpretation had to be challenged in court within 60 days of its issuance, which would have been August 25th.

This is great news for commercial operators and hobbyists alike who operate in the USA. Rather than be subjected to blanket bans on operation, interest groups will have an opportunity to argue for their operating rights in court.

This looks like an excellent development.   IMHO the FAA interpretation is a classic example of regulator overreach, and I am glad that AMA is being a strong advocate for "the little guy."  Makes me glad I joined two days ago (after reading the FAA documents), maybe my $35 bucks put them over the top!  LOL!

Awesome news. Great to know that the FAA and its employees, paid by tax payers and working for us,  is going to be  confronted with, oh, ... reality. Accountability and  truthfullness. Law in a democracy. Things like that, you know  ...

Stuff like this makes me glad I no longer work for the FAA (former ATC). Changes to rules and regs that just don't make sense. Very frustrating.
