Just a quick post to highlight Michael Oborne's great work evolving the Mission Planner, which seems to get better with every day! Above you can see the new frame selection screen, which gives a sense of the dizzying variety of configurations that APM:Copter supports.
There's a new desktop icon, too
If you hit CTRL-W, you can see an alpha preview of what will be the new Setup Wizard:
And if you're feeling really brave, play around the with the alpha Swarming interface (CTRL-F). We'll be posting a tutorial on multi-UAV swarming in a few weeks, so I recommend you wait for that before trying it. But it's just a glimpse of how powerful the Mission Planner is. Bravo Michael!

I am so glad the initials setup has changed, because it was that if you clicked there previously it would first go and download all of the firmware version and that was taking so long if you quickly wanted to do something.
Its a chicken and egg situation isn't it, the wiki will always be playing catch up. I am sure the changes will start slowing down and then the wiki can catch up.
Looks great for us who understand it.
Noobs will struggle until all the tutorials EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM is re-written with new screen captures, problem is when do we start re writing them all with all new screen captures, as you said it changes daily so unless we know it is stable no point in starting to edit existing tutorials.
When capturing a screen shot to include in a tutorial the main buttons do not leave an appearance they have been pressed to make it clear which button was pressed to get to that screen.
Yes, X8 is supported, too -- we even sell one RTF here. We fly one at the office. Flies great.
As always, great work Michael!!
Absolutely Great work Michael.
A lot of changes have been made to all the platforms lately and you've always gotten them in there post haste.
And now your really stepping up the capabilities and ease of use of Mission Planner as well.
Thank You
Forgive my ignorance, but what is the difference between the "X" and "H" configuration? To my eyes it looks like the motors are in the same place, and the APM is oriented the same.
@Mikael, I think APM support X8 too. it's in the MP (though I am not using it yet)
I see it supports Y6. Will it be supporting the X8 any time soon? I'm a total beginner to APM and have just ordered the X8 and am therefore qurious.
