The concept is fantastic and the software seem to very well made.
Regarding the naysayers. Notice it is often experienced pilots that react negatively to this type of software. With experience comes knowledge of all those little things that can have a HUGE impact on your success rate, and every more importantly other peoples safety.
Make no mistake, the "just press a button" solutions are coming. But at the same time we know very well that current technology isn't ready to deal with all those 'little' things yet. So there is often this knee jerk reaction to slick "just press a button" presentations saying it's ready right now.
While we don't have the most up to date data, all of these buildings can be navigated in 3D using Apple's new 3D flyover, new to iOS 9. Think Google Earth. It'll give you a general idea of where buildings are, and you can previsualize your flight path before launching to see if it would collide with terrain or buildings.
Obstacles like cables, trees, cranes, and the rest would still be a challenge. With the release of the DJI Matrice 100, we can hope to see new sensors for obstacle avoidance in the near future, but that would be a hardware, instead of a software problem.
Compared to hand flying, or using 2d autonomous path planning, CoPilot offers the next best thing in obstacle detection and avoidance.
I don't see how the naysayers think that planning a flight in mission planner is any more safe. That interface is far less intuitive and missing way more details (elevation profiles/buildings/etc on map). You can also make the same complaints about follow me modes that is standard in APM these days, but thousands of people use it all the time.
This is great. I would definitely give it a try if/when it made it outside of the Apple/DJI world.

Hi, great comments, and we would love to address them. We do take into consideration no fly zones. The application will notify you if you try to launch in an area registered as a no fly zone, such as national parks, 5 miles within an airport, and certain local municipalities. As for plan paths around buildings, CoPilot shows you a 3D visual representation of buildings, so that you can plan flights around these buildings. If at any time you feel unsafe, you can abort the mission, and assume manual control.

Yes indeed. Not sure I would trust my machine to flight plan around buildings using that app in a real world scenario.
It's ,too risky application and dont' consider the no fly zone ... could be better to re think the app in a more safe key.
