STA3X UAV Flight Control System is integrated with four major functions - Automatic Control, Data Acquisition, Control Law Design and Semi-Physical Simulation. It can be used as an automatic control device and applied in Fixed-wing Aircraft, Helicopter, VTOL, Car, Boats, Robot and PTZ and Moving Vehicle.

STA3X has a powerful programmable system. Customers have the access to self-programming. User can derive a new product by adding the original programming and then have the independent intellectual property rights of it. Universities and research institutions can choose it as the experiment instrument for research project due to its user-friendly and programmable feature. It can also be used as independent sensor to monitor mobile carriers and geological disaster.

Commercially available autopilots only offer the unchangeable program. The only action you can perform is inputting or changing some parameters, not the control law or control algorithm. It fails to conduct an accurate and complex flight mission. In your daily routine, you may have an excellent thought inspired by the enormous practice; you wish you could configure your own thought into the system. And also you may not have a good command of hardware or software design; you wish there was an autopilot could be integrated with multifunction. Sometime you may handle an urgent mission but with high requirement. Then STA3X is your best choice.

  • what the price for one of this system

It would cost millions to certify APM equipt for military grade. (I hope that doesn't hurt Chris and Jordi's feelings)

  • @IKE

APM is not military grade by a long shot (triple redundancy of everything and basically unbashable). Open source means they can do a lot with it but credit must be given.

  • Just a question, with the occasion of Kirill's post. What if a company use the DIYdrones open-source products (APM etc) for military use? Like for example a small UAV similar to the Raven or a quad? Is there a specific policy or if they are within the open source hw/sw license it is ok?
  • It's 99% Russian by all visible signs. Chris, you're absolutely right, the price must be even more then astronomical :)
This autopilot is likely used for military uavs, or for the government's purposes. Obviously, it's not for amateur. However, by it's features, I believe, it's not better then APM and even maybe worse.
I've visited Moscow UAV exhibition (photos in my blog post), seen this kind of autopilots and talked to its developers. Mainly, all of them are obsolete, but cost very much. The prices starts from $10k, however the stuff doesn't worth this price of course!

The main problem and reason is that Russian UAV market is very monopolistic. In fact, there are two-three huge companies which control all the customers and don't allow other companies to compete. Government companies are allowed to purchase only Russian developments. That's why the prices are so high and the quality is low...

Interesting, if it is Russian, that they don't have similiar export controls to the US regs.

  • Their english contact page displays a chinese Beijing company, though the .ru and the cyrillic text.
  • 3D Robotics
    Price??? (I'm guessing astronomical)
  • Platforms are interesting looking http://www.uavstar.com/UAV_Platform/UAV_Platform.htm
  • Given its size I'd also guess it would be useless for us. I'm guessing a 3m glider wouldn't be enough lift (let alone space). At least it has open control of the system but why buy from uavstar and not ruav?

The STC20 is a better advertisement for here as its the right size (although not in production yet). It's basically APM but all on one board less input and outputs though. Testing is even on an Easystar :D
