I thought it was about time to start a U.K group, mainly due to the time difference between us and USA, so members can discuss their issues here and hopefully get the help they require sooner? Also it possible there is someone living not far away from yourself that you could swap ideas with and get first hand help and advice with your project.

Are you going to take photos of your build Jim and why do you have to mount the APM at 90 degrees? I'm not sure what camera to use in the Penquin and it looks like Flight riot like the canon sx series so may well go for one of those. Yes its a shame we aren't closer, it would have been good to see each others builds.
Good luck with the storm tonight.
Yes, started last week. just setting up the APM now. There was a bit of head scratching mounting the 2.5 at 90 degrees but I think I've got the settings right now. Pity I'm not closer, I'm down in Essex waiting for this storm.:).
Hi Jim, thanks for that. What a brilliant website flight riot is! Have you started to build your Penquin yet?
Keith,
I'm doing the same project atm...Penguin + APM 2.5 there are some great tips at http://flightriot.com/flight-riot-rtf-mapping-uav-unboxing-and-init...
Manchester Based? Hi everyone, I'm based near Stockport, South Manchester. I have DJI Naza and Wookong but recently purchased the APM 2.5 to use in a Finwing Penquin. I have very little experience with the APM 2.5 and was wondering if any of you guys are based in the North West that might be happy to chat and maybe get together. Cheers, Keith
@Terry re inaccurate battery remaining %,
Really it's about ensuring the current consumption is accurate which you can see in the mission planner's flight data screen's status tab...i think the field is current. If you have a power analyzer it would be interesting to hear how accurate you find the current draw between the two.
Thanks Rick
I had the battery capacity set to 3000mah which is what the battery is (3S 3000mah)
I have now selected "other" rather than the Attopilot 90a option and put the figures in the no longer greyed out boxes to see if that works, going to test now
Terry - the battery remaining % is based on the initial capacity you tell the APM your battery has, and the sum of current drawn over time.
So you need to check the current measurement is correct - and its not going to be particularly accurate at low current draw anyway.
I need a little help now that I finally have my Arduflyer 2.5 up and running
It sat here on the bench fro quite some time, anyway I digress
It is now installed on a 400 spider style quad with Mavlink OSD and the RCTimer current sensor
Using APM Planner 1.2.62 mav 1.0 and Arducopter 3.01
Trouble is in getting accurate figures from the current sensor
I have tried numerous settings
It seems that the one I'm supposed to chose is:
4: Voltage and Current
2: AttoPilot 90A
1: APM2 - 2.5 non 3DR
The input boxes below remain greyed out I get a fairly accurate voltage reading but the battery percentage remaining is a long way out
When it took 1430mah to top up the battery the APM was displaying that I had - (minus) 19 % left indicating that I had used 3570mah of a 3000mah battery
Can anyone help with this ?
Terry
If you haven't already sorted it, I'm in Brum, only half hour away or so. Oh and if you need credentials.. I won sparkfun/AVC with an arducopter this year ;)
