Before Posting an Issue

Hi All,

Before posting an issue or a problem in the ArduBoat Discussion Forum, please check the wiki table of contents, review the firmware release notes in the subforum, and search that subforum for existing answers to your question. Help avoid duplicate threads by finding other members with the same issue and their solution.

When formulating your post, use a descriptive title such as "rover will not navigate to waypoints in the Auto mode" (not "HELP!" or "Problem").

Please include the following information to help diagnose your query:

  • Describe the problem you are having. What is the expected verses the observed behavior?
  • Provide hardware information such as the brand and version of your autopilot, GPS, radio, and compass, as well as any other pertinent details about your rover setup.
  • What version of the APM: ArdurRover2 firmware version are you running?
  • For navigation issues, provide your tlog and/or dataflash log. Click here for instructions on retrieving a dataflash log.

  • Now the Arduboat tab on the home page has been replaced by PX4 Software.

    Things are definitely changing in the DIYD community.

  • @TCIII, thank you and like wise.

    @David: thanks again, you are right, I was not looking at it correctly. It will take some getting used to.

    Thank again,

  • Richard;

    Are you sure you are looking at the horizon properly.  I know from flying aircraft that at first the horizon looks to be the opposite than it really is.

    Regards,

    David R. Boulanger

  • Has anyone had this before: if I tilt my boat to starboard (right) the HUD horizon tilts to port (left) and vice versa? If if dip or raise the bow the horizon acts normally. Compass is working normally. The boat in the mission planner display is correct.

    I have checked the Parameters but can't see or more than likely don't know what to look for.

    The orientation mounting is default.

    I am using a APM 2.6 with a UBlox NEO-7M GPS with Compass, connection via 3dr radio.

    I checked it with a usb connection and the same.

    @David: I bought the new GPS. When I was ordering it I read your post about the rice and thought "What do I have to lose?".

    The day the new UBlox NEO-7M GPS with Compass arrived I first tested the new GPS and the pulled the old LEA-6H out of the rice and she fired right up, took a couple of minutes longer than the new NEO-7M but shes back from the dead.

    Thank you David, I would have never tried if you hadn't mentioned it.

    Cheers,

    RS

  • @Eddie,

    Love your projects! I can't make it out from the photo, but what is that make and model of the catamaran boat? It looks perfect for putting all sorts of gear in there!

  • Eddie;

    Just zoomed in on the shark picture.  6" PVC !!  That thing is huge. I figure about 4' x 5' ?

  • @TCIII, I will try the alcohol.

    @David, it was salt water . . .

    I've wiped it down and put it back in the rice.

    My new GPS will take wont be here until Wed so I'll leave it until then and see what happens.

    If I do recover it I'll design and print a water tight case for it.

    Odds are not with us I feel ;-)

    Thanks again guys,

    RS

  • @TCIII, I decided to go for the NEO-7M simply for the price and the fact that it was sealed at the GPS end as apposed to the LEA-6.

    Price also played a role as my  boat is very wet (due to my 2x 6.6mA) and the GPS is bonded to the fore deck.

    The boat performs well on plane but drops off plane sharply. Great at speed.

    With that and my driving I expect this won't be my last purchase.

    Still trying Davids "rice trick" and see if we can salvage the old girl.

    Thanks again,

    RS

    @Richard,

    Try cleaning the pwb with 91% isopropyl alcohol (available at Walmart) to ensure that any contamination of the pwb due to water ingestion has been removed.

New to boats looking for a hull suggestion

Hello allI have played around with fixed-wing drones before but am new to boats. I am looking to build a simple boat for the purpose of inspecting a heavily timbered section of river that it is hard to get a manned boat into and am looking for some suggestions on where to start. I don't need a sounder or overly accurate GPS (but both would be good to have). I would really like a high-resolution camera in a dome housing or similar that I could control and take photos with. I would also like a…

Rudder control for kontiki

Hi all,I want to install a rudder on to my kontiki, which is like a submarine which floats on the surface and takes a fishing line out to sea.I am thinking of using an apm 2.8 with gps (because thats what i have) to drive a 20kg servo. The gps should point at a point about 3km out from the beach and the kontiki should follow that course until the timer turns off.I would be grateful for any advise how to go about this.

How to connect 2 Brushless Motors and 1 rudder

Hi, I'm new to Pixhawk. I'm making a boat. I do have 2 brushless motor with ESC and 1 servo which is connected to the rudder. How can I connect them to the Pixhawk 2.4.8. What changes should I bring in the parameters? From readings, I come to know that servo should be connected to RC1 and motor to RC3. But what should I do when I have 2 motors, which are kept in both the ends. Thank you
