Steve Zeets replied to Steve Zeets's discussion Custom sensors for UAV Survey/Mapping Applications
"Hi Paulo,
We typically trigger our camera every 1.2 seconds on average.
Yes, you are correct about how we use the REACH.

Best,
Steve"

Steve Zeets replied to Steve Zeets's discussion Custom sensors for UAV Survey/Mapping Applications
"Hi Paulo,
It looks like your device has a limit of 3 seconds for camera trigger time?  That is much too slow for our needs.
Also, we don't use a high accuracy GPS for Pixhawk Navigation.  We have a separate EMLID REACH along for the ride that we…"

Steve Zeets replied to Steve Zeets's discussion Custom sensors for UAV Survey/Mapping Applications
"I have been watching you develop your custom sensors on this forum since you first offered your UAV laser range finder a few years back.  You guys rock!!
Do you also develop custom cameras?"

Steve Zeets replied to vishwanath rambhatla's discussion pix4d dtm output to gis dwg format in Terrain/Surface Mapping
"Vishwanath,

As stated by someone else, you can get the contours and the points directly out of the Pix4D software.
The linework around the features would be easy to extract using the image and drawing over it either in a CAD or GIS software."

"Vishwanath,

Sounds like you want to convert your tif DTM file into 3D points with a 5x5cm spacing, is that correct?"

Steve Zeets commented on ALAIN's blog post remote shutter for sony nex 5n cam
"For anyone else interested in soldering to trigger the camera.
I have tried pretty much every trigger available.  Each one, especially the IR triggers, has lag time when firing the camera.  I now only use direct soldered triggers.  PM me if you want…"

"Hi Waladi,

Did you get your NEX5N setup properly with the soldered cable?
Which end do you connect the two wires to for Red, Black, and Signal?

Thanks!

"Jeff, those are excellent additions you have!  We use a very similar checklist, but it's a paper copy.  I like your idea better!  We utilize those same buttons in Planning mode too!  I also like the camera points!  Perfect, I hope they add them to…"

Steve Zeets commented on Jeff Taylor's blog post New, Higher Performance NDVI Converted Cameras
"Wow!  That is a lot of money to invest in a sensor where the technology is rapidly changing.
With a full-size sensor converted camera (Sony A7), I'm sure we could easily fly 640 acres in 30 minutes or less as well.  The high bandwidth transceiver…"

Steve Zeets commented on Jeff Taylor's blog post New, Higher Performance NDVI Converted Cameras
"@Jeff - I will definitely post my results!

@Vega - Curious, what would be a ballpark price of your 5 channel prism camera?

We have actually done some test processing using Pix4D and we can process around 300 Acres at 1" GSD in under 2 hours time. …"

Some great dialogue going on here about sensors.
I am in no way a sensor expert like you two, but I have a Sony NEX-5N and I converted it myself with the filters from the Public Labs project that Jeff mentioned and I'm getting good…"
