20 doller reward via paypal for help.....plz

20 bucks via paypal to anyone who can get this working...

so i installed mp not via the installer i didn't see it so i just manually loaded the driver and all worked fine. but realizing i didn't have the 3dr radio drivers i removed and reinstalled mp via the install tool and now i get com port does not exist when trying to connect.the driver is loaded i can see the driver and the board via device manger and i can see it in the drop down in mp to select com3 but it will not connect. Now i did make the mistake of having the 3dr radio plugged in when i connected to usb. could i  hurt the board ?  figuring i some how messed up windows and drivers, i loaded a fresh mp via a fresh download of the installer to a second computer...it loaded drivers etc... and i have the same problem  com port does not exist ? its just on com 5 now on the new pc, i give up did i hurt it buy plugging it into usb with the 3dr plugged in ? Now to top it off windows will not see my uno board. some how the driver via mission planner has bricked my comports on both my pcs i tried to plugging in my wii aiop pro and it its dead too... windows still sees it pluged in ever when the apm2.5 is not and i can not un install it it just locks up ever on a reboot with no board plugged in its there? first machine is a xp laptop and the second is a vista desktop. at this point the both do not work and the trackpad on the laptop is dead i had to plug a mouse in ?i thing some how the apm some how bricked with the reload of mission planner and now has hijacked drivers that are messing with comp /usb's on both computers and i can not uninstall it ?

  • n find the drivers for the hardware itself, then go to control Panel -> Device Manager -> and if it doesnt recognise the serial interface or unknown device, try manually installing the drivers by right clicking on the unknown device, go to update driver software and when you get there choose to : browse my computer for driver software.

Now navigate to the folder the devices drivers are in, select the folder and let it do its thing.

Im guessing you are worrying about needing to reflash the Mavlink, and if you are using the non sparkfun mavlink system I can only give you what I know.

When a new port appears in the device manager (having plugged the mavlink in) right click properties and check that the baud is set as 9600 - and when you get to the mission planner and select that com port you should select the baud rate at 57600. still doesnt work? Try just matching up the baud rates as they appear both in the device managers com port (ie. change 9600 to 57600) and try again

this probably wasnt helpful at all, but I am sure you have not made the device unbrickable! Google is your friend and good luk!

(btw I had huge issues with my APM1.4 as the FTDI chip on the oilcan broke and I had to solder another FTDI-USB adapter from the ftdi pins out the top of the oilpan. Clear as no visibility

try to check the serial using a serial monitor app, (like the serial monitor in Arduino IDE)
and try changing the serial port number !

  • I have the same problem, have been pulling my hair over it for some time now. At this point, I have tried eveything under the sun, I can no longer connect my APM via USB. I can only see it when it is powered alone and broadcasting via the 3DR radios.

And since you can`t do a firmware upgrade over the radio, well, I am stuck. I am not happy with this because I wasted a huge amount of time and now the board sits in a box. Going back to the DJI Naza for a while until the bugs get ironed out, it`s just too frustrating. And my minimOSD won`t connect either, probably a corrupt bootloader. Royal pain, not time for this right now. I hope you figure it out and if you do, please post your findings! Good luck.

  • run safe mode and fix it trough there everything should be fine you could also try to hook it to a different usb port rear for example

next time first driver then device unless you cancel the windows auto driver installation and use your own drivers when plugged in for the first time

    best regards

  • have you tried looking at your restore points in windows. You might be able to get back to a state before things started to go bad for you.

Are other things working when plugged into the USB port?

With my xbee I was in a situatuon where I thought that I had burned it off, but thaking it through the re programming I was able to get it to work again.
