Camera Gimbal issue

Hey... Relative Newbie help, please.

Can't get my Camera Servo to work.

I've searched thru the forums and posts already.

I'm trying to set up my Camera tilt with the 3DR suppled camera gimble and servo.

I've plugged in the servo's signal wire to APM 11 Output and the + and - to my Futaba RX, as in the page: http://code.google.com/p/arducopter/wiki/AC2_Camera

The MP Software is set to RC11, "stabilize" box is checked.  RC6 disabled.

When I plug in the signal wire, the APM disconnects from the MP.

And I Servo has no signal.

What am I missing?

Please help.

Thanks,

Dave

  • Hi,
I have a problem with the output A9 to take pictures, I set the MP in "Shutter"
with pin A9 and channel 7 of the radio with "Trigger Camera", but pressing the channel 7 with the switch of the radio output A9 remains high.
    where I'm wrong.?
    my firmware 2.8.1 and I have a APM2.
    thanks
    Fabio

  • Am I correct that one can confirm JP1 is disconnected by using a multimeter to test continuity between the + pins on the output rail and the + pins on the other rails?

    No continuity = JP1 disconnected

    Continuity = JP1 connected

  • David,

    One thing to double check:

The illustration can be a little misleading because it does not show the pins on analog 12&13. Make sure you aren't accidentally hooked up to them instead of 10&11.

You can read the info on under the heading "Connecting the servos with APM2" in the page you mention AC2_Camera

" Warning: When using the APM Power Module or other dual supply setup with JP1 off, don't connect power from the CH10 & 11 connector to the servos, just use the signal lines. Power the servos via PWM Outputs connector. Alternatively if you have digital servos you can assign the gimbal roll/tilt to RC5 to RC8 outputs, if they are free. These solutions will avoid the scenario that can possibly happen when the Pan/Tilt servo draw too much current and cause the APM to brownout (reset) "

    Hope that helps :-)

    Hello,

I had the same issue. I solved it by making sure the ground and power lines were connected on the APM output rail. I think this has to do with using the same ground reference as the APM for the signal line.

Be careful not to connect the gnd and 5v wires on the A11 and A10 rails!
