Interestingly enough, the 30 amp is cheaper than the 25 amp ESC. Yet I've seen a lot of people choose the 25 amp for their projects. Is there a spec I'm missing here? (I know that the 25 is 3 grams lighter, but it doesn't seem like enough of a reason to me...)

I definitely agree, go with 30 Amp, it is most likely because of availability of parts.

the specs look great but i am confused about cells? It says 16 cell max, but my batteries are 25-50 C turnigy? does that mean 25 to 50 Cells

I've heard that 30A version is the same under many brands like Hobbywing Pentium 30A etc.
On the other hand, I've never seen another 25A.
I can't imagine why you would pick the 25A over the 30A. Maybe it's more about which is in stock at hobby king at the moment people buy them.
