Talk about the 3DR Solo quadcopter
4K Action Camera Wifi WiMiUS L3 2.45'' LCD Touch Screen $42 off
There is a lot to like about the WiMius L3 16MP 4K Action Cam as it's undoubtedly a worthy competitor to the GoPro at a sharp fraction of the price. It's simply amazing what they were able to do in such a tight package. It does 4k video , 60fps 1080p video, has a webcam mode which would be used on youtube if necessary, comes with a variety of different accessories like the go pro which includes the signature case and many many other cool things as well. I use a program called Bandicam I was…

Has anyone attempted to get a vision positioning system going on the solo yet? Perhaps an inspire 1 or phantom 3 module for now until a solo specific one is released? Dji has been running them for over a year now.
The added safety benefits when gps fails would be a very nice addition.
Also has there been any movement on upgrading range, perhaps a simple wifi card swap? I believe I read over on 3drpilots that some have had success with mikro tik cards (9582), but can anyone confirm this?
Thanks Philip
For the benefit of others it does appear to be fixed using a manual update of a file and also appears that 3DR will be up fixing it in a future update too.
Good work by others and 3DR.
I am quite sure Jaime has this working...
Hi,
Does anyone have any idea when the Solo SDK will be updated to allow custom camera controls? The Solo SDK page has said it is on the way for some time. Surely it cant be that hard to get the gimbal and camera control to honor the DO_DIGICAM_CONTROL mavlink message and get it to take a picture on each of those messages. That way we can start doing some stuff in dronekit and trying things. Until then it great we can program up complex actions but unless we do this it has limited applications at present.
I understand it would mean that mapping could happen on the current platform (instead of having to go backwards and use an intervalometer). I've always been in 3DR's corner but it seems like they are deliberately making stuff harder to help sell the next item - which is way to high a price when a cheaper item can do it if they allowed the software to do it. This change would have been been simple to do from day one and cost them a few days of development and testing at most - heck some of that time while they were waiting for the gimbals could have been used on this.
Chris A if you read this can you provide an update on when the SDK will be updated to allow us to trigger images. Best if it listened to DO_DIGICAM_CONTROL mavlink messages to make it easy.
Having said the above I love my Solo, very stable platform even in windy conditions and the gimbal equals if not better than my gimbals on my other ones. Good solid product, would be excellent if I could move forwards in this area rather than going back to what I did years ago......
Chris
I missed out on the 20% off deal for Solo due to unforeseen expenses elsewhere, so no Solo to fly this year. :(
I have three SOLO and I want to fly multiple drone together.
But, I don't know how I can do it...:(
First, I think using mission planner swarming.
However, How I can connect three SOLO's each wifi on mission planner???
I saw (http://diydrones.com/profiles/blogs/swarming-demo-with-solos-from-a...) and this video use ROS for control multiple drone.
I wnat to know that way.
Please help me.... I want to control multiple SOLO.
@DG. A lot of folks I know have tried them and love them. They claim it helps reduce vibration. Personally, I don't use them. I'm just very careful about managing the cables when I install a gimbal.
Has anyone tried those flexible gimbal cables on their Solo? Do they work?

Eric, it's a bit of a pain. The main things are to make sure the motion of the gimbal in operation won't contact the (rather stiff) cables, and the other thing is to make sure the cables aren't making the gimbal tilt.
I've done it a few times and every time I had to play with it a bit to get it right. It takes some patience. Good luck!
