I thought it was about time to start a U.K group, mainly due to the time difference between us and USA, so members can discuss their issues here and hopefully get the help they require sooner? Also it possible there is someone living not far away from yourself that you could swap ideas with and get first hand help and advice with your project.

I have not posted for a while.... between the weather and work I have not a moment for any real play time!! I did get out the other day and had a go with the NAZA GPS and was very happy with how it got on, I made a video showing the Position hold & RTH at work from a number of places, close to ground, high up and far out.... I think it did "good"

  • Hi Nigel,

I'm in Brum, and I've been at this for a while now, any advice required gimme a holler!

  • I'm looking to get into this stuff a bit. Anyone in the Midlands or Herefordshire?

I've a bit of experience with RC from years ago, mostly cars, and some Arduino and the like. Definitely not afraid to get my hands dirty on the builds or the code. Just sort of want to know where to get started. :-)

  • I need to check my settings more thoroughly, the issue was that the serial 3 baud rate was set wrong on the APM. Thanks for the help.

  • Oh, and I bought them from the diydrones.com store

  • I'm not at home at the moment, but I remember it being 1.5 sik

@Luc  Where did you buy your 3DR radios from?  And are you sure you are using the latest firmware for them?

  • The USB is not connected when using the 3DR radios, I have made sure of that. I think that it may be the usb to serial cable, as now, when I plug either unit into it, it boots in bootloader mode with a solid red light (although if I keep removing it and reinserting it it eventually will boot properly)

Randy: On APM 2, you can't connect wireless telemetry and USB at the same time. They share the same port. The manual tries to make this superclear, but if there's more we can do pls tell me.

@Luc re problems with the new 3DR radio,

One thing a japan user found recently was that if the miniUSB is connected, nothing will come out on the telemetry port. Maybe try disconnecting your miniUSB and see if it starts to work?

A Newbie Question

Hello there,Have waited a long time to finally dive into DIY drone construction, but after a few years I wanted to jump into something that I love, but have only experienced through other people.I'm willing to spend sometime and money to do this right, buying parts instead of one ready to go kit; but of course I would like advice.I don't want to get into something too involved too early, as I think caution and going slow to get to grips is probably the best way with these things.Found this…

UK Newbie

Hi all,I am Jason - 42 years old in the Midlands UK.I have been a recreational quad flyer for just over a year - using a flywheel f450 with a go pro - no fpv set up yet.I run my own specialised cleaning business and have done for 10 years but i would like to become CAA certified and i am just about to book the course. I would like to then get a better set up and then slowly start doing some commercial work, probably free at first to build a portfolio before setting about trying to make a career…
