About Me:
Flight has always been a subject that reached deep into my heart and even deeper into my imagination and sense of wonder. As a child, I dreamed of being an Astronaut and I considered a tour in the Air Force during my teenage years. After some years spent soul searching, I found myself going right back to what I dreamed about as a kid. I joined the Aeronautics Team at the California State University of Northridge in 2010, an experience which simply filled my heart with joy and emotion. Having earned my Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering in 2012, I look forward to an exciting career with an aerospace company.
Please tell us a bit about your UAV interest
I was part of the 2010-2011 Aeronautics Team representing the California State University of Northridge. We developed a lifting canard platform we named the Flying Fox. The platform was designed to carry a surveillance payload for the AUVSI SUAS Student Competition in June of 2011. My professor, Dr. Timothy Fox, opened up my imagination to new possibilities when he was interviewed by a local newspaper in Maryland. He stated that the potential application for our design was search and rescue operations. After some consideration, I believe the platform can also be used in firefighting operation. Specifically, I think the platform can be operated to seek out thermal signatures that are way above normal in dry brush areas and report the time and location of the event to a local ground command station.
