About Me:

I am a Physics/Engineering student I design and fly model aircraft on my spare time, typically going for performance and aesthetics ( geometric ). I also film and video edit as well as making music on the side.

Please tell us a bit about your UAV interest

I am working on autonomous vehicles which can be used easily by the public. I think that Ardupilot takes care of that very well so I am in luck. Currently I am an FPV pilot so not technically a UAV operator yet. I am very excited to soon own an APM 2. The thought of constant autonomous flight is thrilling.

I would think stability, but the downside of more parts that might break.I had this idea of a multi-rotor with 16 motors, it's actually four identical quad-copters that stack together, 8 motors face up, the other eight face down, but they can fly…

"Don't thank me, it's not my material. But thanking for starting the discussion, yes I find it intriguing and hope to develop my own some day."

"Thanks for the clarification. Wasn't sure if George-Kelley was advertising a different radio, my apologies.

It's surprising that it isn't that expensive?

My radio of choice previous was an Aurora 9 which was expensive and limited in functionality…"

"Haha that's a joke right?, that radio in the video looks like a Spectrum DX something or Airtronics not a cheap Hobby King transmitter."

I don't get why now it seems that anything small that flies is considered a "drone". I'd like to argue that drone implies autonomous although the Predators which have pilots are called drones as well, not saying that they aren't auto-pilot capable.…

Jacob Cunningham replied to Jacob Cunningham's discussion Is this dumb? Sphere drone.
"I did test the three-bladed rotor configuration and they do fly out when you spin them, I made a little model out of a piece of foam, part of a ruler, a hot glue stick, a thumb tack and some pins."

This is probably another hair-brained idea. This is how this thing would (doesn't exist yet) work. You take this sphere-shaped drone and put it in your hand, it's clean and ergonomic with the exception of a primary button, camera, some closed optional…
