*over the couple month's I'm going to attend, organize, and film robotic conventions in my area*

This is my blog to the newscasts I'm going to be releasing every couple days.  If you have anything you would like me to cover in a newscast please let me know through message or comment. As DroneCafe and The Daily Cup evolve over the next month so will this blog.  To show my support for diydrones.com I am going to wear a diydrones.com t-shirt in every newscast.  I love honest criticism so if you have any suggestions please don't be shy! (The newscasts over time will become more professional looking)

I'm really focusing a lot on the non military aspect of drones in my newscasts.  I am going to focus even harder on trying to be a daily face reminding diydrones.com members to feel obligated to inform the uniformed that drones aren't limited to destruction. Please help support me in my efforts.

Part 1,2,3,3.5^^^^^^^^^^^  (4 Coming Soon!)

RQ-11 MidWest Drones Project

My short term goal for this aircraft is to have the RQ-11 Kit fully assembled and operating as an ROA (Remotely Operated Aircraft).  My overall goal though is to buy a ardupilot from diydrones and make it into a fully functioning UAV.  Learning programming through my college classes I want to create a fully functioning UAV that has a flight time of around an hour or more that could be used to track animals and photograph agriculture.

What I have left to do:

  1. Add digital camo to parts of the wing
  2. Add servos and connect wire cables to rudder and elevator
  3. Possibly add ardupilot
  4. Possibly add FPV flying feature

I'm looking for suggestions on any mods or upgrades I can do to this RQ-11.  I hope the videos are enjoyable and educational.

  • Part 4 will include fully operating plane with other possible surprise DIY Mods.

RQ-11 DIY UAV Project Part 1

My goal for part 2 of the video is to have the RQ-11 Kit fully assembled and operating as an ROA (Remotely Operated Aircraft).  My overall goal though is to buy a autopilot from diydrones and make it into a fully functioning UAV.  I want to use it for agricultural and animal tracking purposes.  Learning programming through my college classes I want to create a fully functioning UAV that has a flight time of around an hour or more that could be used to track animals and photograph agriculture.

Things to do:

  1. Buy motor, 2 servos, and propeller
  2. drill holes for servo mounts, motor mount, and side panel door
  3. lightly sandpaper plane body and paint jet black
  4. assemble, mount electronics, and glue plane together
  5. mount camera inside and fine tune CG (Center of Gravity)
  6. Test and video tape operational ROA for video part 2

Suggestions Welcome!

F-117 Hybrid Glider Project

All Suggestions Welcome!

The more suggestions that I get the more I will update the blog with the current progress of turning my F-117 Nighthawk R/C into a hybrid type glider.

Possible Ideas:

  1. Cut off wings
  2. Build custom glider wing or buy already made styrofoam glider wing
  3. Once Complete with wings build a dome underneath plane that can house a camera
  4. Add extra EDF Fans if needed for extra speed (its already extremely fast with only 64mm EDF fan house inside the plane in the middle
