About Me:

I'm a control systems engineer (Aerospace mainly). I've always been an aviation enthusiast. Have a pilot’s license (Single engine land, VFR only, not current), I’ve dabbled in paragliding for a couple years, and I’ve been an RC aircraft hobbyist off and on since middle school. I’ve been blessed with a tolerant wife.

Please tell us a bit about your UAV interest

Interested in building an electric UAV for fun (for starters). Interested in control system aspects, including system-identification testing (flight dynamics), fly-by-wire control law design, possible future experimentation with stabilized pan-tilt for camera payload.

Paul Keas commented on Hugues's blog post How-to guide: Pixhawk with 6S batteries (> 4S)
"Hi all,  Great write-up.  I'm currently running a 6s system which is built up from 2 3300 mAh 3S backs wired in series to power a single-motor fixed-wing.
After reading through the above, I'm wondering if it's also possible to use the 3DR…"

Paul Keas replied to Paul Keas's discussion Elevator-Rudder control under HIL simulation with Xplane
"Thanks Ryan,  I'll experiment along those lines.  That would make sense.  It also occurs to me that maybe I should have repeated the radio setup procedure after uploading the HIL firmware?  (I had set it up earlier for the plane, but didn't think to…"

Hello,I'm having an issue flying my APM (configured for a drone with no ailerons... elevator+rudder only) in HIL mode with X-plane.  It works fine in manual mode, except that the ailerons of the model are moving in response to what would be a rudder…

Hello All, Has anyone looked at the MB-LPS-01 series of differential pressure sensors by Microbridge? There is quite a lineup in sensitivity/range (see spec sheets attached). I'm looking for an air-speed sensor appropriate for a low-speed UAV (say,…
