About Me:

Health forced an early retirement. Past CEO, aerospace electronics Engineering consulting Corp.(That translates into, no pension, or money in the bank, so living off my wife.) Hence, a completely worthless 25+yr. career down the drain and generally a wasted life. LOL Now's the time to do something worthwhile with my life by doing nothing. The exception would be hobbies to entertain myself and perhaps others, as I move closer to the big nothingness.

Please tell us a bit about your UAV interest

Building UAV and FPV air vehicles are just a way to entertain myself and to keep learning. If I succeed, then I'll show them off to friends and strangers. My interest therefore, is to just see what I'm able to accomplish. I presently have a 4 that can be an 8 motor quad and a fairly large 6ft. wingspan foam plane to use as a UAV and FPV platforms. Plane: http://hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__14465__EPP_FPV_1_8M_X_Large_EPP_Carbon_Fiber_R_C_Plane.html Quad: Unfortunately the 550 frame is no longer made, but replacement parts are still made. So in theory you could still make one. The 450 shown is similar, just a bit smaller than my 550 frame they discontinued except upon special request. Spares are still available though: http://www.hoverthings.com/frame-sets/ht450bk.html I can't fly worth a goat fart atm. As time advances, I'll lose even less of my ability to fly as neurological degeneration advances. To that end, I'll require some sort of autonomous vehicles if I'm to fly at all. I've little to no interest in making an autonomous wheelchair or other equally worthless devices. So UAV's it is as my selected hobby. Down the list perhaps, what I do (and others) may lead to some other disabled people have fun as well. It fundamentally means in that case, that it's all in self interest really. Beyond that, I don't really know yet what will transpire. So if I update this info, and once I figure it all out... or if I manage to figure it all out that is. I'll edit in what my interests become with UAV's. So until then, this remains all just for a bit of fun really. Oh, one more thing now that I think of it. It's all to hopefully, slow down my brain from rotting away so quickly. Unless it's already to late for that.

"You wouldn't want civilians using drones to watch the watchers would you?"

"Correction:
Perhaps an above statement is in error regarding my UAV control override statement. I should have maybe phrased that as augmented control, as the RC pilot should technically always be in control of the aircraft and the computer aspect is…"

"Well Robert. The latest info I have in regard to what Transport Canada and MAAC will do, is from their resent meetings last year and that is to leave things as they are for now. In short follow the existing rules and most important keep our heads…"

"It is always a good plan to invest your time in doing something physical, rather than a purely intellectual exercise. The real world gives back real results and those are almost always quite different and unexpected as compared to just the…"
