About Me:

I build autopilots for sailing craft. My interest is in the techniques experimented with here for application in multi day long distance sailing where control autonomy is necessary during sleep periods.

"I don't believe this is constitutional. We had a similar attempt in California. It was driven by a case where a wealthy individual flew the entire Ca. coast with a helicopter equipped with high res cameras and GPS to capture position. The library of…"

"Hi Victor, I have two circuit boards developed. I am re releasing both. One is a motor driver for driving either linear or hydraulic systems. The other is a controller with sensors. If u hv interest in either let me know. Looking to defray board…"

"The military uses a VLF system, very low frequency, something less than 100KHz. The subs tow a very long wire antenna, as in 1000's of feet. The frequency is very low and hence so is the bandwidth, that is the speed of data will be slow.

"I have created an autopilot for my 34 ft sailboat. It is road tested on a race and return trip from SF to Hawaii.

Appropriate hardware:
- developed H Drive using MOSFET drive + logic to handle approx 20 amps peak.
- developed hydraulic/electric…"

"My experience with two dimensional control systems would indicate that you would have to lower the gain on your settings, lower the P setting for less feedback. "

"Did you solve this ?   I have implemented an AP for my 34' boat that has steered me to Hawaii and back and can explain how I handle this type of issue.

"I have developed an autopilot for my race boat. Recently I gave it an acid test as I raced, with the AP steering 80% of the way, to Hawaii and back from San Francisco.  The design uses at Atmega processor, an E compass, and 3 axis gyro. It is very…"

Hi All, After reading code and a few forum entries there are several questions that I have regarding the APM code. Can the PID parameters be reset in real time or is this purely a compiler time option, hence requiring a down load and reset ? Are…

Hello All, I am looking for the low level drivers that talk directly to the digital IO for driving the servos. I see references to the drivers in the APM code modules: servo_out[CH_ROLL]      = reverse_roll   *…
