Well this is a delightful bit of irony.

Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney (D-N.Y.) decided to capture the excitement of his June 21 wedding day on video using a drone, even though the commercial use of remotely controlled vehicles is still restricted by the FAA, which Maloney oversees on the House Transportation and Infrastructure Aviation Subcommittee.

Maybe this will help our cause.  A congressman with authority over the FAA now has first hand experience with the FAA's incompetent and delayed handling of this issue.  This 2lb toy with a camera could have taken down a loaded 747 hovering there 30ft above ground next to the giant brick church.  Clearly this is a danger to the NAS, much like surveying corn husks.

  • Too many Americans subscribe to "Manifest Destiny" as it is!
  • No, it's Not North American Airspace.
    It's National Airspace.

Don't be giving the FAA any ideas now... We don't want them thinking they have any jurisdiction in Canada !

  • Would this be classified as, "Hypocrisy at it's finest".  Here you have a elected official ignoring FAA rules because he has "diplomatic immunity" or because he flat out doesn't care to follow the same rules as us common folk.

  • @Scott - NAS=North American Airspace

  • NAS? I'm going to guess National Air Space. Is there a prize?

  • Did they charge? Could this have been just a hobby person. Could backfire trying to use these things for our cause. BTW. What is NAS apart from Network Attached Storage - tried google some american term that I didn't get?

  • And it's flying in an unsafe manner over a crowd as well!

  • Fantastic!

This may turn into something like an Ouroboros ... with multiple bureaucrats.

  • This is great.

  • Ah, the 1%ers...
