DJI add free waypoint to the Naza and Wookong

I thought some of the 3DR community might be interested in hearing that DJI has recently released firmware upgrades giving “free” waypoint capability to both the Naza and Wookong. The caveat is you will need to buy a Bluetooth data link (approx $299), but what was once an expensive software upgrade for the Wookong, and totally unavailable on the Naza, is now more affordable, particularly if you already own a Naza.

The Groundstation is available on both PC and IPad (Bluetooth 4.0 versions), the data link allows PC users to plug-in via USB or connect via Bluetooth for your fruity devices.

The video (not mine) above shows some initial testing from a user.

  • I dont know how to connect the gcs with the naza-m v1. Like crasher said, i connected the pmu v2 to the naza-m v1 and didnt work.

  • Competition is good!

  • You need the Datalink 2.4; PMU; GS download firmware V3.16 (will upgrade to V4.0)after install.

16 waypoint navigation; height and radius limits, etc.

  • I'm totally confused on this. What equipment does one need to have in order to make this happen? How many waypoints are included?

Where's the press release? I can't find this info anywhere else?
  • Woops! GCS component went right over my head!

  • Bluetooth is just for your iPad to talk to the ground station.  The ground station uses 2.4Ghz to talk to the datalink on the copter.

  • Is Bluetooth a good medium for control and telemetry? I figured its range wouldn't be that great.

  • Weird, I downloaded it for free? It doesn't like IOS7 though.......

  • Distributor

Yes yes you are right, it's another $65 for the PMU for V1 users... oh and it looks like you also need to buy the app for $5

  • I totally agree RL, Arducopter would be waaaaaaaayyyyyyy more expensive if the software development team had to be fed and watered like DJI, thank you for your tireless efforts.

It is indeed only for V2 Dany, luckily Naza 1 can be upgraded to Naza 2 by purchasing the V2 PMU. I can't remember the cost, but it isn't particularly expensive.
