apart from the nice wide angle lens, how does it compare to the cheaper HD keychain cameras out of china?

They edited description, it likely doesn't have AV out to connect to transmitter, just for playback. Here is the official info:

The vibrator is to confirm commands / button pushes, instead beeps.
This camera is an uncased version of Redleaf RD32 camera, already sold on the Internet as action/waterproof camera, check my review on rcgroups.
