10 Thirty Days (#17): 12-rotor close up Posted by Joshua Ott on May 23, 2013 at 4:30pm I had a couple of requests for a still shot of the 12-rotor beast that Joe and Justin cooked up, so here it is. E-mail me when people leave their comments – Follow

It would depend on if the servo is a continuous rotate setup or the conventional rotate type.
The servo twists the band continuously in one case -- to some purpose; partially for another.
My vote: I'm with Bruno and others: Drop mechanism

I noticed the APM was moved up... is it to reduce potential interference from the power distribution board/cables?
Regarding the extra servo + rubber band, my vote also goes for releasing something in mid air.
Re: Jun 8th - Please be a brushless gimbal that is less than 10cm tall, and one I can choose my own motors and controller for. Oh and below $100 too please...:-)
@ Josh...
..I better report our 1 year old to the FAA then. Every meal involves testing whether you can catch indoor thermals with pasta.
Tennis ball for Spark fun AVC june 8th.
Look how compact that thing is, that is what impressed me the most!
Regarding the servo and rubberband: one thing I can assure you, is that there are no tacos, burritos, or other food items involved.
Food belongs on the plate, not flying through our airspace.
I have great faith it will be cool and nothing so prosaic as a camera gimbal.
I'll go with release for something(s).
Piggyback drone?
just to release something in the demo, a parachute, a banner, how knows....
Active harmonic vibration reduction
Hmmm... A mystery! :-)
My first thought was a banjo or guitar that changes tune as you turn the servo arm one way or the other! j/k
