Thirty Days (#26): Two Y6 copters in carry-on

Joe was able to fit two of the new folding Y6 birds plus RC transmitters in his carry on bag. TSA did ask a few questions, but let them through.

Wow, nice packaging.

Out of curiosity what were the questions that TSA asked? I am guessing Joe stuck to the "RC Helicopter" line as the word "drone" sends off way too many flags.

Is it a car? An Airplane? What is it? Are these the batteries that are used with them? I also made sure to put in a copy of the FAA regulations on traveling with lipos. I was warching the guy working the xray as they went through, he seemed very confused and concerned lol. They took things apart and swabbed the bag, but in the end after I explained what they were, they all thought it was pretty cool.

@Joe very cool, sounds like the standard questioning, good to hear you didn't get pulled into a side room :)

I always get nervous travelling with my projects that have home made solder joints, I am sure those stick out like a sore thumb on the scanner.

Why can't I buy the Y6 as a kit (maybe I am just not looking at the right place) all I can find is the upgrade kit from the hex.

Christiaan,

It's not on the store yet, but soon!

If you look closely, you can see the new prototypes of our dedicated Y6 frames in my bag. We are putting on the finishing touches now. Stay tuned!

Awesomeness. Are you guys changing the centre plate as well to differ from the hex?

Someone else purchased it for me, but it appears to be a "Samsonite 1910" model.

I think Justin has the right answer.  Just say robots, flying robots.
