  • I have my final exam on this stuff this week for stability and control. Can't wait to apply it this summer building my own UAV.

  • I prefer a thumb and 2 fingers (e.g. right hand/left rules gestures). A little bit cheaper...

Invest in a matlab license... then generate C++ code from it. It's pretty sweet.

  • I used three Popsicle sticks hot melt glued together for a similar purpose...

  • They have to develop a Kalman filter based AHRS to be competitive.  Optimizing it for a microcontroller is matrix math intensive, although it can be solved using equations.  They could stand for an investment in mathcad.

    "We don't know Q because of b_E"  ... best guess :)

  • hope this solves the level calibration in 3.0 rc1

  • I think they're trying to solve the compass calibration issue in APM Copter 3.0.  I see "Magnetometer Readings" and "We don't know..."

  • Indeed looks like rotation matrices.. hoping for a direct georeferencing module in arduplanner, useful for AP. Linked to internal orientation parameters of the camera and GPS/IMU transmitted with the 3DR transmitter (also in the picture) one could calculate image footprint on-the-fly. Sure would help in ensuring a complete terrain coverage while in the field.

funny they use zip ties to make a 3 axis orthogonal referential : Roll, pitch, yaw.

Are they calculating rotation matrixes ?

  • Got to love the matrix math! I demand better images of the proof! :P

Seems like the guys at 3DR have a lot of fun, or maybe I am the only one that gets excited by math.
