  • dear Hans, Quite fun that you take the same analogue thinking: indeed the Sikorsky price contender that may be a 1 kW available, And we all know the relation lower differential airspeed makes more efficiency. Our compact design indeed needs some more power  ca 6  x 6.5 kW. best Winfried More compact again would require more!

  • Nice Tommy, it is quite similar to the kick starter project or is it that one?

Best Winfried Are you still in this area?

  • Of course Tobias we know the evolo and the guy starting it. The size of that one is a little too big in our view; we would like to get it to 2.5 by 4 meters. But indeed we used their lessons.. best Winfried

    Agreed.

This community is for sharing and supporting our fellow hobbyists...it's sad how quick the haters pop up everywhere these days.

  • Sorry to spoil the fun. These people already advanced their human multicopter quite  lot: http://www.e-volo.com/

  • I made these drawings some time ago... :)

  • Looking at Hobbykings contest to lift beer, several managed to lift 50kg+. With more engines it should not be a problem. Doing this "effective" is a completely different thing.

My own little drone needs 130Watt for lifting 1kg with 4x 10" propellers.
It's pretty good with 7gram per Watt.

Atlas Human-Powered Helicopter - AHS Sikorsky Prize, where a pro cyclist generate 650Watt to lift 80kg + 4x 20,2m propellers.
Total incredible with 125grams per Watt

BTW, have you test with a scale model? Having a heavy keel under a drone is not always a good idea. It may be better to carry the pilot hanging in a joint coupling.

Do not want to ruin your idea but this has already been done :

  • Sitting under the wash? The middle props will not provide lift?

    The design is ridiculous !!!

  • It looks totally practical to me. Even better if it can be designed to fold up into a small cube that could be worn on your wrist.
