  • Version Pixhawk software to install.

    I understand that they have a upgrade of software that take care of "Range Finders" and other bugs.

    Is there a stable or beta version that takes care these problems ?

    And what Version is it ?

  • Initial setup Setup of Pixhawk.

    Does Battery need to be plugin to make Pixhawk Initial settings ?

    BIG QUESTION ??

    I have a Tarot 680 Pro Hexicopter with Pixhawk fight Controller, with;

    6  Sunnysky 4108S motors

    6  14.5" carbon fiber props

    6 lbs 20,000mah 6S Lipo battery

    The overall weight of muliticopter is 14 lbs.

    The BIG QUESTION is;

    Will this New Built Drone FLY with that much weight on it ?

    No way.

    First off, unless you extend the arms, the 680 is limited to 13" props.

    Second, those motors would need to make 5 TIMES THEIR MAXIMUM RATED THRUST:  (14 X 2.2) = 30.8 KILOS. (30.8 / 6) =  5.13 KILOS.  MAXIMUM THRUST WITH 13" PROPS ON 6S IS 1.32 KILOS.

    Motor Data Sheet:   http://www.buddyrc.com/sunnysky-x4108s-17-380kv.html

    Conventional wisdom rates that frame for an AUW (All Up Weight) of 3.5 kilos.  Mine weighs 3.257 kilos.

  • @Martin (Poller),

    thanks for the tips regarding DF13 connectors from Digikey.  I'll be sure to look.....

    @Thomas,

    never did like those DF13 (Hirose) connectors, anyway ( :

    @James,

    thanks for the link to 3DR "parts" ( :

    Marty

  • @Martin You can buy pre-crimped single cables of various lengths and colours together with the DF13 connectors (Hirose) of any number of ways that you require from Digikey here You can use these to make up any cable you need.

    I bought mine from them here from the UK and can give you reference numbers if you can't find what you need.

    These are the original light brown DF13 connectors that fit the genuine Pixhawks not white molex ones that fit the clone varieties.

  • Thomas,

    yes, I am replacing a PH1, but also, it's what I'm familiar with.  I wasn't "current" with the latest developments regarding 3DR PH1 peripherals until yesterday.  Been to busy "building" ( :  P. S. I did join PH2 group.  Thanks, Thomas.

    @Martin,

    What good is being able to purchase a new Pixhawk1 going to do you, unless you are replacing an existing PH1, as you cannot purchase the DF13 connector cables for a new installation anymore?

    Also, if 3DR chooses to sell an improved PH1 that has a different connector configuration than you are presently using, what are you going to do?

    I am in the same boat as you, however I stockpiled quite a few 4 and 6 pin Hirose connector cables to act as replacements for damaged cables, but not for new builds. I believe that the new style connectors (Molex?) found on the PH2 are the wave of the future.

    I believe that the white connectors you have mentioned are JST connectors and as you have found, do not fit the 3DR PH1 Hirose mating connectors.
