matt.koestner replied to Jacob Heller's discussion Help with wobbly drone
"What battery are you using?  Your power module is indicating ~11.5v resting and 10.4v under load.  If this is a 3 cell pack it should be 12.6v when full.  Could it just be running out of power to stabilize itself?"

matt.koestner replied to Prashanth Rajagopalan's discussion Smoke from motors
"There is no calibration or signal the pixhawk could send that would burn your escs.  Do you have multiple bec power from escs in parallel?

matt.koestner replied to Benjamin Meltzer's discussion Removing Rolling Shutter Artifacts
"In my experience this can be solved by damping the vibrations before they make it to the camera.  And it's not only spinning things that can cause the problem but flexible frame parts are just as important if not more so.  I'm going to assume you…"

matt.koestner replied to Dennison's discussion Please Help: Fly Away. I suspect vibration but need help analyzing telemetry
"Hey sorry for the slow reply but you will need to cut all of the ESC BEC power wires if you will be using an external BEC to supply +5V to the servo rail.  Alternatively use 1 ESC BEC and cut the rest of them. Dennison said:
That's good to hear.…"

matt.koestner replied to Dennison's discussion Please Help: Fly Away. I suspect vibration but need help analyzing telemetry
"Hah no worries!  I'm at work, so plenty of time to do other stuff :-)

Once you get it tuned you will be amazed at how much wind it will handle.  I have almost the same build and regularly fly it in 20-30 MPH winds, snow storms, whatever.

Yeah lots…"

matt.koestner replied to Dennison's discussion Please Help: Fly Away. I suspect vibration but need help analyzing telemetry
"Awesome!  If you open log ending in 18-26 look around timestamp 67441 you can see when battery voltage falls below ~10.7V, RTL engages.  Your battery failsafe is set to 10.7V which is OK, maybe a bit conservative but it really depends on temperature…"

matt.koestner replied to Dennison's discussion Please Help: Fly Away. I suspect vibration but need help analyzing telemetry
"Personally, I flip the mode switch to cancel rtl. Say if you are in position hold, then RTL kicks in, just flip to alt hold and back to pos hold. The failsafe will keep beeping and flashing yellow, but you'll be able to control it normally (until it…"

matt.koestner replied to Dennison's discussion Please Help: Fly Away. I suspect vibration but need help analyzing telemetry
"I'm on mobile now so can't look at the log, but the yellow flashing indicates Pixhawk is in failsafe.  The climbing is because then RTL is invoked, the copter will climb to a pre set altitude (RTL_ALT).  All you need to do is switch your mode switch…"

matt.koestner replied to Ben's discussion Please could someone help analyse this Autotune/Pixhawk crash? in PIXHAWK
"Well it's not really a coincidence.  Autotune demands large and fast attitude changes which demand rapid RPM changes from the power train.  Any ESC, motor, or battery problems usually show up during auto tune.  Look at it this way, if yout copter…"

matt.koestner replied to Alex Hopkins's discussion Please help with X8R Pixhawk Not Powering?
"The way you show it connected is OK.  I have run into USB ports that wouldn't power the entire system (Pixhawk, Rx, telem radio, GPS).  In your case I would try external power first to rule out a USB amperage issue. Paul Meier said:"

matt.koestner replied to Chris Hardwick's discussion KDE Driect motor vibration issue
"All of mine have been good but they are comparatively low rpm vs yours. I did have a 5215 shake like crazy but it had a bent shaft from an incident that went unmentioned to the mechanic by the pilot."
