  • Off-centre APM2???

Guys I have intended to mount the APM on the side of my fuselage...its a wide plane the X8 flying wing. I know smack over the CG is the ideal but I was hoping to use that real estate for batteries etc. So if the right hand edge of the APM2 is 4 inches from the centre line will it be a problem? Would there be a response lag time? If it was out on a wing I image there would but 4" .

    Thanks for any advice

  • -eagle, no I didn't see those posts. Thanks for sharing. I will check them out.
  • To All:

First, I hope this is the place to be posting this, if this is not, I am sorry in advance...

I have a question about Arduplane... I see that Arducopter is getting worked on (updated) on the regular and I haven't seen anything about arduplane being worked on nor updated... I do remember a while back Chris or someone had stated they were moving in a direction that would make it easier to code and add code and the like... What is the status on this? is arduplane even being worked on, bugs fixed, or anything? or is it just being ported so you can add scripts for loops and weird flying movements? IMO i think it would be easier and best to have  and APM that has enough memory that you can have just one source code that works for all so there wouldn't be this old/obsolete/current/alpha/beta stuff...  and the look here and then look over there routine...  The best solution is to make everything in the end, PLug-n-Play as best it can be...

  • M mine it was the capacitor I ave on the 5v line. I know others use that too in case of power brown out but in my case it definitely causes some problem with the apm. If I wait longer ten its ok or I just unplug the capacitor before turning on.
  • 100KM

@F11music.com - I had the same problem. Turned out I have to first power it up *then* plug in the voltage monitor. If you have one...

  • Found the solution just after writing. :) I have a capacitor bank on it that gives me about 5 seconds of power and I guess it was holding some residual power and keeping some things alive on the board? Just a guess but when I pulled it and restarted, all was fine again :) Bug?

  • I thought things were working and then something happened that I remember happening a few times with my skywalker. I've even seen it with my quad. The problem shows up as a super slow response to movement in stabilize mode. You move the plane and can see the changes happening in the mission planner but in a very delayed way. The servos respond the same. I just can't remember what to do to solve it. I've restarted, reinstalled the firmware. All other functions work but the stabilization is in super slow mode. Does anyone know the solution to this?

  • F11: Nice! I just didn't want to assume your aircraft configuration, but yes, if it is a stock ZII then you'd want to configure for elevons...

  • I finally got it working. On my radio it's called delta and I was setting it to flaperons thinking that was elevon. Now it's on delta and working in stable and manual.

Vast303: I didn't know you could fly it without setting to elevon. How would you control the pitch?
  • 3D Robotics

F11: The instructions in the manual are here. Basically, set your TX to elevon mode so it works in manual. Then do a RC setup in the MP, and check the "elevon" checkbox, so it will work in auto modes, too.

Cruise speed

Hi,I want to adjust cruise speed. At default settings I have a ground speed of about 42km/h (without airspeed sensor), and I think the optimal speed should be lower. In the mission planner I have value "Cruise speed", default 12m/s. I updated it to 9.5, but don't see any change in actual cruise speed. How to set cruise speed? Are these different settings with RTL speed? For RTL I prefer keep it as is - less efficient, but more reliable. Is it possible to adjust cruise speed during flight, providing…

Long distance LiPo

I'm currently building a Talon (v3), mainly waiting for parts. While looking for high capacity batteries I found out two things; There are a lot of brands, and prices are still steep in the high-cap regions.I've also seen a few people on the Tube using 18650 cells, but none of those explain why.Does anyone here have experience with these custom 18650 packs? And which 'cheap' brands of standard 5~12A 4S seem to work best?I'm going to use an Emax GT3526 710KV swinging a 13x6.5 prop, which should…

Quad plane pitch problem

Hi I have been setting up 2 quad planes, pretty standard setups...flying wing with 4 vtol motors and a rear mounted pusher motor. Both builds wich are on different firmware versions have reversed pitch in quad mode but correct pitch and pitch stabilisation in plane mode. I cannot for the life of me find a parameter related solely to quad pitch reversal. Is there anyone out there that can help with this? Thanks.

PreArm Check Error : Gyros inconsistent

Hi guys, I have a Pixhawk from Radiolink and always in every first attempt of armed I get the error "PreArm: Gyro Inconsistent".The most strange thing is that i'm using only the external gyro+compass. i disabled the internal to avoid this issue. Also- I tried to recalibrate the gyros at least 5 times.- I changed the firmware version from the latest to the 3.8.53 because i have a friend with the same board and he does not have issues. But i have the same behaviorIf i disconnect the battery and…
