Erez R commented on Erez R's blog post Long time and no Pipo post
"Not necessarily.  The Arduino platform is very memory-intensive.   The current iteration of the Pipo SW takes less than 12kb.

Anyway, the platform is designed to be a simple plug-&-play unit.  My guess is that those who want more functions will…"

Well the software is not advancing at the speed I want.  However we're having great success with Multiwii.I've dropped the price to reflect the lack of software.

"I'm actually trying to break from the "quad controller" tag.  :)
It can be a quad controller but it can just as easily control a fixed-wing airplane, a heli or a camera gimbal.   All in the same software.  The multiplexer is really flexible.  If…"

Here's the latest on Pipo board development. Code already contains AHRS, PID, PWM and multiplexer routines.   I still need to complete the AP/GPS routines, the simple configurations via the radio and only after that I'll tackle the AP routines. As…

"I fly in Shomrat (when I have an airplane :)

Porting all of Ardupirates is loking completely feasible.  I have most of the "heavy stuff" in and the code is just 10K.     Main loop is only 5msec and I think I got the HP and LP filter to an optimum…"

"I'm working on a quad as we speak.  I'll have a flight demo by the end of the week.

Almost all the parts are here.   The toughest part were the Magnometers.  Almost no-one has them and I don't want to buy cheap Chinese Knock-offs.
The HMC5883L…"

Erez R commented on Erez R's blog post Pipopirate codebase started
"There are a total of 16 free IO channels.  They can easily be configured for either Input or output.

It was conceived at first as a Pwm-in Pwm-out (Pipo) stabilization platform so yes, that it does really well.  I'll upload a video of it…"

Still, they say it won't be available until May.  I got a local source."

The 5843 OTOH are still available and well documented."

"Hi guys,
First up.  This is a very preliminary code.  It will get better.

GPS, camera, etc will be added later on.

Just to be clear.  I'm not trying to compete with the Ardupilot/ArduIMU.  They'll always have more memory.   If I wanted to do…"

"Far from it.
I'd appreciate it!

I want more people on it.  I think this can be a great micro-autopilot unit.  The more ppl the better :)

Thanks!"

Hi guys,As promised I've started a port of the Ardupirates code to an "Arduinoless" state that should be able to run on Pipo. I call it Pipopirate  :) It's not anywhere near functional but you can check it out on:  http://code.google.com/p/pipo/

"Thanks,
I'm working hard to get the full specs out and ready.
The picture shows the "v1" board which has 6 inputs and 6 outputs. The "production" board has 8 inputs and 8 outputs.

The gyro is L3G4200D, accelerometer is ADXL345, Magnetometer is…"

Once I have the preliminary version working right I'll publish the source."
