Mark Williams replied to Richard's discussion Using Flying wings for aerial mapping
"These flight times with the x5 sound great. I'd love to hear about the propeller, motor, battery setup on your aircraft."

"Hey Adam. That's my understanding of it as well though in perhaps less florid terms. I'm still in the learning stage with a lot of these classification techniques but they're very interesting and finding the right technique and its use for the…"

"Hi Martin, there's lots of YouTube videos about nearest neighbour classification in recognition. This one is on version 8 but should give you a good idea of how it works. https://youtu.be/vVQBiWWIAuM"

"Hi Martin, you're right, generating the NDVI image in the GIS software is better and that is what I'm doing now.

I'm using nearest neighbour classification in eCognition which is a learning algorithm of sorts."

Mark Williams commented on Mark Williams's blog post Using UAVs and NIR photography in conservation land cover classification
"Hi James, I don't think that they do in this case. They can have an effect in NDVI analysis alone on hi res images though. As I'm using nearest neighbour analysis with training samples from areas in shadow as well as light shadow effects should be…"

" thanks for the feedback Koen. I did play with the use of haralick textures in the classification process and it made a big improvement. The problem was with the processing time and power available to me, haralick computation is pretty intensive.…"
