Robert Dielenberg replied to Ron Irby's discussion error message writing waypoints
"Did you find a solution to this? We have exactly the same problem.

APM 2.6
Firmware 3.03
Mission Planner 1.3.5
"upload wps failed WAYPOINT MAV_MISSION_ERROR"
The tlog shows that after MSG 27 (hex) MISSION_ITEM you get a failed AF (MISSION_ACK)."

Robert Dielenberg replied to Valentin Brossard's discussion Overriding Remote Control from a custom GS with MAVLink
"Hi Pushyami,

we are currently attempting the same ting for a different component in the system (switching between gyro and thermopile sensors on teh APM 2.5) and we will try your solution and let you know how it goes."

Robert Dielenberg left a comment for Graham Dyer
"Hi Graham,
we're developing a UAV here in Newcastle, Australia. We've been experimenting with the ardupilot 2_7_1 for a few months. Having huge problems with altitude hold and throttle. We're using a petrol engine. We realize the original ardu is…"

Robert Dielenberg commented on Robert Dielenberg's blog post MVVS 26cc in-flight starter motor
"I'm not sure of the work you do in UAVs but one problem a small company faces is how to get the biggest bang for buck. Scaneagle is beyond our financial means. Pneumatic launch system for example. Also Scaneagle doesn't do high resolution imaging;…"

Robert Dielenberg commented on Robert Dielenberg's blog post MVVS 26cc in-flight starter motor
"Paul Mather got it right. The key reason for stopping the engine is to get clear photos. We've been trying every which way, and it's the only viable solution in a small UAV which needs to cover long distances (hence electric is out). All this talk…"

Robert Dielenberg commented on Robert Dielenberg's blog post MVVS 26cc in-flight starter motor
"That's true. What we do is recalibrate the gyro using accelerometers. It's tricky, but we got reasonable results. To this you add GPS data and horizon data from the infrared horizon detector. So it's all about data fusion."

Robert Dielenberg commented on Robert Dielenberg's blog post MVVS 26cc in-flight starter motor
"Don't forget you have to couple the engine off scenario with good image taking. We've also had a lot of experience with gyros and vibration. Not good. But when the engine is off you get good gyro readings. Has anyone else flown an MVVS? They're…"

Robert Dielenberg commented on Robert Dielenberg's blog post MVVS 26cc in-flight starter motor
"That's correct. We are only using the Telemaster as a test platform to prove the technology. With a high performance wing, folding propeller (cowling around engine for streamlining) we should be able to easily exceed 20+ hours. Aerosonde did a huge…"

Robert Dielenberg commented on Robert Dielenberg's blog post MVVS 26cc in-flight starter motor
"Yeah. We thought about combining them, but it quickly became unfeasible. The advantage of keeping them separated is less wear and tear, easier to interchange for maintenance. The downside is you carry more mass. However, you can compensate for that…"

"We anticipate flying our small UAV (wingspan 2.1m) for 3+ hours with a full payload package point-to-point (i.e., not thermalling). Have you heard of an electric motor doing that? Now imagine putting our starter motor system on a high performance…"
