Steve Pharis replied to Charles Henderson's discussion 200 Amp Current Sensor
"It strikes you as foolish because it is.

I would forgo the gains of seeing current sensing on a build you are describing and plug it straight to your batteries."

Steve Pharis replied to Dave Williams's discussion Using AUX pins as relays for CHDK
"@Martin

I ended up using a turnigy PWM switch on AUX1.  I set AUX1 in parameters to be the camera trigger.  Once you do that, you can tie the trigger to be distance based, or TX switch based.  I am using a Cannon with CHDK and the default script…"

Steve Pharis replied to F. C. Bearsch's discussion MinimOSD Extra - Pixhawk - 3.1.5 - RSSI
"PWM RSSI is not yet supported (or at least I don't think it is).  Because of this you need to convert the FrSky PWM signal to analog.  This can be done with an diy RC filter.  "

Steve Pharis replied to Marc MERLIN's discussion Pixhawk Arming problems APM Plane 3.0.3
"I use safety button and yaw arming in plane. Works fine.

It should be noted that you cannot yaw disarm - or at least I can't.  once you arm with yaw, you must use the safety button to disable throttle output until you power down."

Steve Pharis replied to Dave Williams's discussion Using AUX pins as relays for CHDK
"I'm moving that way. I have a PWM based switch on the way. $6 is way cheaper than my time messing with this."

Steve Pharis replied to Dave Williams's discussion Using AUX pins as relays for CHDK
"Servo activation just doesn't work.  Same issue as many others have reported - the pulse bounces between 0 and 10-11 according to chdk.  Whether through passthrough or servo on any channel, the trigger will not fire using the methods in this thread.…"

Steve Pharis replied to Dave Williams's discussion Using AUX pins as relays for CHDK
"I have this working as a relay in APM Plane, but I am unable to use a channel to trigger the camera.  I have set RC7_function to 10: camera_trigger and channel 7 assigned to a switch, but it doesn't trigger the camera.  The camera triggers fine…"

Steve Pharis replied to Matt's discussion POWER DISTRIBUTION BOARD BY 3DR - 5v power for pixhawk
"You can power by using any/all options. There are 3: USB, power module port, servo rail. Use them all, use 2, or use just 1. Pixhawk will select the best source magically. Just supply the proper voltage to the correct pins at each location. The pin…"

Steve Pharis replied to Matt's discussion POWER DISTRIBUTION BOARD BY 3DR - 5v power for pixhawk
"The pixhawk does not send power out the servo rail.  You should connect a 5V BEC or whatever you choose to get 5V to your servos to the servo/input/output pins.  It will provide power to the rail, and to the pixhawk in case of main power in failure.…"

Steve Pharis replied to Matt's discussion POWER DISTRIBUTION BOARD BY 3DR - 5v power for pixhawk
"Your answers are in the photos you posted.

Question #1: Don't use that garbage.  It is intended to use your ESC BEC for the low voltage
Question #2:  Look at the picture you posted.  It shows you exactly what you need to do.…"

Steve Pharis replied to Ravi Gupta's discussion More foam supplied with PXHawk by 3D Robotics
"It's not worth the worry.
Pick up foam from multiple other locations, or buy some Kyosho Zeal from any multitude of online locations."

Steve Pharis replied to Harry Stuart's discussion Really need help with Turnigy 9x Battery
"Make a cable using a female servo connector.  Don't put the outer housing on it so the pins are exposed.  It will plug in to that connector for charging."

Steve Pharis commented on luke cooke's blog post General Flight safety Website Idea
"The people that need to find and read a site like that won't. The information is already out there, they either ignore it or don't care enough to look for it."

Steve Pharis replied to xoltri's discussion Pixhawk causing motor sync issues.
"So setting idle speed to around 150, and min throttle to 180 I'm not getting sync issues anymore. I'd like to know if anyone else can replicate this."
Jun 14, 2014
Steve Pharis replied to xoltri's discussion Pixhawk causing motor sync issues.
"So I think I've narrowed mine down to the throttle idle. If I allow the motors to idle, I lose sync. If I don't idle when armed and instead go to throttle low from off, I am not losing sync. I'll have to test more to confirm as I only ran 2 more…"

Steve Pharis replied to xoltri's discussion Pixhawk causing motor sync issues.
"Add me to the list of pixhawk users with sync issues even after following all the information I can find on the topic.  Using signal ground, 400Hz, modifying min throttle, esc.  0 issues during calibration or on other flight controllers, but issues…"
