  • Here's a link to my flight test yesterday.
  • A few folks have added wheels as well. It looks kinda dorky but I figure it could protect the battery a bit more..
  • Yes, Morli - that's my thinking. Thanks for the pointer though James F.

I've done a few flights with the setup and landings are OK on the battery. Interesting, when I crashed my last Easystar with the battery plus electronics in the compartment, the battery got splatted plus most of my electronics. (No fires yet, phew). So, yeah, this was inspired by those findings.

Since the battery is toast either way, I figure this will save the electronics instead of crushing them. My fold-out enclosure for the battery is made of Evostick craft board which has styrofoam sandwiched between 2 layers of cardboard - it's a bit stronger than Elapor - it's the stuff used by the SPAD guys

James, I doubt the LiPo and fire hazard being the issue, I think freeing up payload space is the priority in his mind.
  • are you worried about battery impact? Lipo's can catch fire with a large enough impact.

gr8 , good luck and pls keep us posted with the progress.
  • Bought the "RR" version of the Easystar. Comes without radio or battery but included the 400 brushed motor and ESC. I have a brushless setup as well but I'm getting ok performance with the 400. Decided to go with 2 cell (7.2V) 3600mAH LiPo which gives excellent run time but meets the safety requirements for this ESC
  • Nose reinforced with Gorilla tape
  • Battery mounted externally for easy swaps. Leaves more room for electronics inside. All fastened with velcro.
