Drone flying to non visible point
Hi there,I encountered a problem, while flying in auto mode, with approching to point that was not set by trajectory and is not visible after downloading mission from flight controller by Mission Planner. Does anybody encountered similar problem. The situation is that in the middle flight I stopped the UAV and uploaded new mission and after changing to auto mode it starts to fly in some direction. It goes straight to some point, so I assume it's not mechanical problem. I attached the link to…

@Mark;
Did you go through the throttle range setup to calibrate the ESC's to your radio?
I'm finding that the pitch channel has to be reversed to have the quad behave properly (stick forward, pitch forward). Otherwise the quad will pitch forward when pulling the stick back, which imho is counter-intuitive.
Personally I think it's a bug, and so I added it as issue. But if for some reasons it cannot be fixed (apparently the reason is that both plane and copter share the same RC_Channel code) it would be a good idea to say it more prominently in the First Setup page of the wiki. At the moment there is a reference to the fact that you need low pwm to have pitch forward, but it's not very visible and not obvious.
The Hex is more stable and it can lift more weight. But the Hex is more work and expense. If you crash the Hex you have youay have more parts to replace. With Hex you have a bit more tuning since you have the extra motors and ESC. I own both a Quad and Hex. Both are a joy to work on and fly. If money is not a problem, go with the Hex. If you want to save money and learn, start with the Quad.
Hope this helps.
Merry Christmas,
Richard
Andrew. Looks like you have a big problem. I am not sure if 3DR frames are designed for big motors and big propellers but way how they are in your hexa is bad and you cannot use it like that. all jDrones frames are fully tested with 12" propellers. I would suggest to use only 10" props on that your current hexa.

OK I got the Loiter going almost good. I had problem with my CH_6 knob on TX. fed the info directly from the ground station. all good for now. Thanks.
@Randy
Randy thank you for the response. Frankly I dont really know what to look for in the log. any idea what i should expect in the log? sorry I have never done this before.
@Avionics
Have you reviewed the logs? That would be a good starting point to see what is happening.
Randy
@Shayam, if you want to experiment with quaternions, DCM, euler angles, etc. you might want to check out the various pluggable AHRS subsystems in paparazzi.
