Andropilot is an open source android based ground control system (GCS).
Before posting questions in this group, please check the excellent wiki manual maintained Peter Meister. If you find missing bits in the manual, please ask here and then update the wiki based on what you learn. Together we will keep this manual complete and up-to-date.
For most users the required hardware is:
- An Android phone or tablet (preferably tablet) with USB 'host mode' support. Most newer devices have this but you should check (and then update) our compatibility list.
- Operating system 4.0 or later (all supported versions of android should be equivalent now, except for direct connection of APMs. Direct APM connection will be slow for androids before version 4.2)
- A USB host mode adapter. Probably something like this.
- A supported autopilot (please update this wiki page as you test new devices)
- A telemetry link (the 3dr 915/400MHz radios are recommended - they seem to work better than the xbee radios for this application)

- Vehicle mode display & control (AUTO, STABILIZE, etc...)
- Speech output (for mode, altitude and battery alerts)

- 3DR telemetry module support
- Warnings for low battery, low rssi, or low GPS sat count
- Fully android 'native' (Scala backend talks directly to the USB device and renders the frontend)

Try going into settings->Networking-> UDP mode selection-> set to Disabled.
Hey Guys!
I had originally configured AndroPilot to run on bluetooth, but have since swapped out for 915mhz radio, but can't configure it to see the radio. It seems to always to want to look for bluetooth. I can't seem to get the intial configuration page where you setup your radios.
Mission planner from the PC works with the radios, droidplanner sees the radios. Any ideas how I can get back to the original configuration page where you specify bluetooth or radio?
AndroPilot is the best! Don't make me go to droidplanner, please!!! How can I fix this?

I would not recommend using RC override (the use of the smartphone to control the aircraft) until devs patch the firmware.
At the moment if you loose connection to the ground station you will not be able to regain control of the aircraft in any case.

I'm using a Samsung Galaxy S4 to run Andropilot. Everything seems to be fine except that I can't get control of the craft. What is the proper way of using it along with a standard Tx and Rx for control. I like to have that for safety. Basically I turn everything on connect with my phone but then when I arm it, the copter does not arm even though the phone says it is. Also, I cannot start a flight sequence from the phone. With that I can also no longer control from my TX. I end up turning everything off to reset they system. Any help with this would be great!
On another note, I've seen people ask about preloading maps. This seems to be working for me even though I can't fly. If someone could follow these steps and verify it that'd be awesome!!
1. Open Google Maps on your tablet/phone.
2. Zoom into the area where you will be flying.
3. In the search box type "OK Maps" (this will cache the map
4. Cut off your wifi and your wireless data to your device.
5. Go to Andropilot and plan a flight
So far, the cached map area has been showing up for me and the areas around it do not. Hopefully this work. It seems to be a pretty simple solution!
@joe - about 9 months ago someone purchased a shield and they said it worked well with the joysticks.
anyone tried this with the nvidia shield? looking at getting one already, if I can use the built-in physical controls to control ardupilot aircraft that would be an added bonus.

Just a specific question...i have been flying on guided mode at predefined altitude. If i am flying to one point on guided say at 30 meters, how can i change my altitude to say 50 meters on the next point still on guided mode?

thanks for the Answer i did start a discussion. I also did it as waypoints but unless i missed a parameter, i didnt see how to make it descend while circling, now if i can only FIND that discussion :P
Hi @TMT, probably better posted as a discussion, but I think this would best be done by adding a series of waypoints.
Is there a way in Andropilot to tell the Quad to do the following? go to a way point, Loiter, Slowly Descend from Current Altitude down while circling in a 10 foot diameter around that waypoint? If there is a Link that explains how to do this, please link me. thanks in advance!
