@Phil I think you inadvertently engaged landing mode through a failsafe. See the log graph and the modes with your throttle input as yello and the throttle output as green.
Hope it helps.
2015-04-01%2017-03-11.binHi all. Can someone please help?
Week or so ago I had a flyaway due to a faulty Pixhawk. Long story short, I got it back, got a replacement and tried to do the maiden just now. Alarmingly the throttle would very slowly answer to my inputs. I got about 6 foot off the ground and throttled back, nothing. Alarmed, I throttled back more and it just hovered. Well at least it wasn't flying away! Throttled all the way back by now wanting the damn thing to land. Had no reaction for about 3 seconds until finally started to come down slowly. At this stage my throttle has been at 0 for what seems like an eternity but in reality probably 5 -6 seconds. This is scaring the hell out of me. Would someone please view my log and see if there's anything they can pic up? I was using a half charged battery because if it did do another flyaway it wouldn't go far. And I see the battery failsafe did Kick in but that shouldn't explain the lack of throttle accuracy. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I just came back from the field. One of my motors wouldn't start up. After coming home I discovered that the ESC was shot after I burned my hand on it. Should i try to replace the motor and the ESC, just the ESC, or just the motor. I'm new to RC and Multirotors so any advice would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

I do not know the answer to your question but... It would be handy if someone can explain how to download maps in advance for possible missions.
@mark sahf
It's best not to use the group message to ask questions. Instead use the "Add a Discussion" link above.
To help you get started, first start by Downloading your Data-Flash logs as described here. Once you have done that start a new discussion describing your problem and attach the Data-Flash log you downloaded from your last flight.
This is really a necessary step whenever you are asking "why" or "how" something happened. Without the log files it's just educated guessing.
Good luck!

And 3DR customer service was not of any help in that case.
Could have bought a Chinese clone as well.
I want to support those who innovate and invest to improve the open source product and soft.
So I'm buying an Arsov AUAV-X2.
Not 3DR.
@ Larry A Amati
