Please tell us a bit about your UAV interest

My hobby is electronics and particularly with fixed wing and rotary wing RC aircraft. I currently have a TREX 500 and a TREX 600 Heli. I've been working on Simulink and Matlab models for Helicopter autopilots. Flying is fun, building something that flys itself is "funner" :)

Trying Xplane 10 with Ardupilot 2.62 HIL-Can connect Mission Planner with Arduplane2.62 software load (with GPS connected) and it will allow me to fly a plane with my Transmitter..everything seems to be fine except my IMU is driving the artificial…

Having issues with Mission Planner 1.2.11 mav 1.0 and arduplane2.62...I've run several previous versions of the Mission Planner and ArduPlane and never had any issues at all with speed..It seems to be very slow and not very responsive..I can run the…

Colin Johnston replied to Ravi Gaddipati's discussion Particle Filters
"Ravi, I've done extensive research with particle filters. I did my Master's Thesis on image processing and video target tracking with them. They are great with nonlinear non Gaussian systems and state models..Very Very computationally intensive.…"

Colin Johnston replied to Senior Design 2010's discussion Ardupilot Code question
"PID control loop gains are tuned for a specific response for a specific type aircraft but can accommodate some variance while still proving good control and stability. It is very possible that if you change the plant parameters, then you'll have to…"

Colin Johnston left a comment on ArduCopter (traditional heli) user group
"Does any body know how the fast the execution rate of the Ardupilot or Arudcopter software is the with current build without adding more code?"

Colin Johnston commented on Jordi Muñoz's blog post ArduIMU V3 ready for pre-order and check our new color!
"You guys need to relax with the price issue. Whats 18 dollars...Come on already , this is all open source hardware and software..What more do you want"

Colin Johnston replied to Randy More's discussion Crazy question, could ArduCopter hardware and firmware be used in an ROV ? in ArduCopter User Group
"Randy, with some modifications to the software and possibly hardware, it can be done. An IMU can certainly work underwater to provide body rates of your ROV. Again you would want to convert these body rates to something in an inertial frame. There…"

How do you compile code for the DSP on the gumstick? I have only seen where you have to use code studio or code composer or some kind of IDE with complier and it costs quite a bit of money unless you get the free version which is basically a student…
