"@Jesus, yes that's sad!
I hope they restructure and start working developing new products with and for the community again. It would be a pity if not. "

"@Drotek
by "TinyRTK can otherwise be used with a dedicated datalink" do you mean it works with the Drone Edition as well or only the normal version? I am asking, because I only see one UART JST-GH port on the Drone Edition. "

"Hi Jerome,
looks pretty perfect! Congrats!
Can you provide some more details - SD Card, time to fix (especially with these antenna, btw why not the 6mm patch antenna) etc.?

"@Monroe King
That is all correct and I fully understand your point. Building an autopilot for teaching purposes is a great idea. And there was some post while back from a guy using a simple version of Ardupilot for teaching (probably lost somewhere…"

Thorsten commented on John Arne Birkeland's blog post ArduPilot and DroneCode part ways
"Isn't the "complexity" stemming from the fact that Ardupilot is a very mature and reliable autopilot firmware that serves almost all needs with perfection. There are other firmwares focusing on specific UAVs - for example racers. But these may not…"

Thorsten commented on Randy's blog post Copter-3.4's polygon fence
"Randy,
this is a great feature! Any additional security is important.
What would be perfect would be if the polygon fence is automatically set around a survey mission area (for sure with some small buffer). This could be a simple convex hull. But I…"

not scientific but practical:

You can fly any time you like - and not if a satellite is happy to
You can fly multiple times a day
You can change the sensor to your specific/scientific needs
You can repeat a flight if the lighning…"

"Hi Cala,
as far as I know rc2 is not out yet. But it will most probably be rebased on master.
Use Ctrl-Q in Mission Planner when you want to install the firmware.
Cheers,
Thorsten"

I recommend flying master (for sure at your own risk ;-))
There are lots of EKF fixes in there as well as other enhancements such as automated throttle mid setting.
Best regards,
