About Me:

I developed the sickness of rc modeling about 4 years ago and has been my obsession since.

Please tell us a bit about your UAV interest

Bought my first Arducopter off the first batch. Crashed it due to poor connections and shelved for 3 months. Finally fixed the issue and flown many times since:)

"In 1014, I did a stint in Honduras for anti poaching where similar heat at night was observed. The night time wind served no comfort at all! However the use of a Thermal camera acquired from China and mounted to a petrol powered Mugin 3m platform…"

"Hi Guys,
I have been trolling , uhm i mean surfing the web regarding this matter that looks to be the same issue as yours. Until 5 mins ago, I thought it was mission planner or the 3 boards that all showed gibberish in the terminal screen in mission…"

Choppy replied to Sean Headrick's discussion Unexplained crash at the end of a stellar mapping flight. in ArduCopter User Group
"Hi Sean,

I had similar experience earlier in the game.
How do you power the back end of the flight controller to the esc's control leads?
I found that I could fly many times without putting a BEC line into the output side (no J1 jumper) that you…"

Choppy replied to Shouyeh Gong's discussion Can a APM-equipped quadcopter take off from a boat?
"This is a good idea. However baro pressure is hard to sense and hard to alt hold if the container is rigid. Ive tried it.
There are waterproof membranes around as well for this reason. In fact, try AQUACOPTERS.com and their latest version  has this…"

Choppy replied to Daniel Perez's discussion RTL AND CRASH AC3.1.2
"Hi Daniel,
Can you take a picture of your APM wiring in the copter? I suspect that in flight shut down could be what I have experienced three times on different units. All of them due to the fact that I did not read the assembly and connection…"

Choppy replied to Shouyeh Gong's discussion Can a APM-equipped quadcopter take off from a boat?
"I have done similar work and found a aluminum hulled boat works best. We had found the compass cal failed as there was a steel frame for the shade cloth roof very close to our takeoff platform at the bow so we removed it and replaced it with wood.…"

"I think I had the same problem. I also cut all   the 5v leads but after a disarm in flight and the rebuild, I measured the output +ve bus line and found it only reached 3.2v. It must have been just enough stray voltage to keep all the ESC's and…"

Choppy replied to Mike Governale's discussion FailSafe Disarm & Crash 400ft up... NOT GOOD, but could have been worse.. in ArduCopter User Group
"Hi Mike,
I have experienced the same problem however I know now it was due to no power supply rail to the output side of the APM. I did not realise that the 8 esc's on my octo had no bec's and as there are no servo's to drive and indicate poor…"
