Coastwise replied to Darius Jack's discussion Developing Pigeon Camera Drone in ArduCopter User Group
"I seem to recall that a videographer in Dubai (Qata ?) rigged up cameras on raptors or trained eagles probably a year or two ago.  You might get in touch with him (he's known about the Persian Gulf I understand although I don't recall his name).

Coastwise replied to Darius Jack's discussion DOWN YOUR DRONE IF YOU FLY WITHIN 36 MILES OF THE SUPER BOWL in ArduCopter User Group
"@ScottW. This is probably the most important argument against FAA's rampant regulatory control. Not well thought out rule making. Unwarrented."

Coastwise replied to Darius Jack's discussion DOWN YOUR DRONE IF YOU FLY WITHIN 36 MILES OF THE SUPER BOWL in ArduCopter User Group
"This sort of regulation is crazy. FAA is out of control. One of FAA's jobs is to ensure safety. Restrictions such as these are poorly crafted and unwarranted even in an abundance of caution. We are talking about drones here. Yes, restricted flight…"

Coastwise replied to L's discussion Privacy Nightmare: Own a Drone? FAA Wants Your Credit Card Number in ArduCopter User Group
"Darius Jack,     All I can say is you damned well better not be seen outdoors with that rig unless you have that all-important piece of paper Mr Foxx gave you.
As long as you have that paper on your person and aren't wearing any type of goggles…"

"Said U.S. Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx: “Registration gives us an opportunity to work with these users to operate their unmanned aircraft safely."

Coastwise replied to L's discussion Privacy Nightmare: Own a Drone? FAA Wants Your Credit Card Number in ArduCopter User Group
"@Darius Jack. @L.

FAA says you don't have to register your Frisbee. However, FAA is considering applying drone regs to 'Roomba' vacuum cleaner when used outdoors unless you are a university involved in research for DARPA."

Coastwise commented on John Wheeler's blog post You Are Now Required To Register Your Drone
"My question is just putting the number on all my batteries with a silver marker would be good enough, as the drone flying would be using a battery (Obviously).

Ask John Wheeler."

Coastwise commented on John Wheeler's blog post You Are Now Required To Register Your Drone
"John, Of course I will use a waterproof felt tip pen! Like the rest of us I don't want to go to jail for up to 3 years on a felony charge nor do I want to pay a civil penalty of $27,500, or a $250,000 fine for faded, weathered numbers."

"John Wheeler

Where are you coming from? With all that pious talk... Not getting into trouble... Putting fancy, pretty label.. $$$! Why not use an old fashioned felt tip pen?"

Coastwise commented on Darius Jack's blog post FAA Small UAS Registration Rule Law banned development of model ArduPlane ArduCopter ?
"No. Not the same as for firearms. Registering  firearms not required by federal law. Flying a drone is much more dangerous than firing a firearm into the National Air Space above 400' or within 5 miles of an airport. Even if it is for recreation and…"
