Glenn Hollowell commented on Murray Spoelstra's blog post Folding Quadcopter for the holidays
"Yep, I remember and like the 1/2 pool noodle crash plate on the bottom. I have a section of ABS septic line under both ends of my fuselage that I reshaped with a heat gun as landing gear. Springy and unbreakable. Thanks for the response."

Glenn Hollowell commented on Murray Spoelstra's blog post Folding Quadcopter for the holidays
"Hey, great to hear from you! You are precisely correct w/regards to getting the compass away from electronics/metal to reduce interference. Murray, what are you flying now? I've got a couple of variants of your design on my drawing board now. I'm…"

Glenn Hollowell commented on Murray Spoelstra's blog post Folding Quadcopter for the holidays
"Great design with lots of possibilities. Here is my take with white oak, 1/8" aluminum, epoxy and pool noodles. All up wt w/5000mah4s is 2,150g. Have a nice day."

Glenn Hollowell replied to Glenn Hollowell's discussion RESOLVED: Uncontrollable in-flight yaw (it was fine before) in PIXHAWK
"Got it. #3 motor had a very slight tilt associated with it, (~2 or 3 degrees) . Swapped this arm with a spare and the problem was resolved."

Glenn Hollowell replied to Glenn Hollowell's discussion RESOLVED: Uncontrollable in-flight yaw (it was fine before) in PIXHAWK
"In midflight the yaw misbehavior started. Had been running Autotune doing roll axis adjustments. I don't believe that it had progressed to the yaw Autotune.."

Glenn Hollowell posted a discussion in PIXHAWK
I've put together a new scratch build and was running Autotune on it yesterday. Had Autotune OFF at the time. Quad started slowly rotating about the vertical axis while flying. Did a rough, (but not too rough) landing, pulled all motors and…

"I like to dry-lab before the build using eCalc."

Glenn Hollowell posted a discussion in PIXHAWK
Recently I've come across the suggestion that when you are using the Pixhawk power module, you should snip the (+) wire (middle one) that connects the ESC to the Pixhawk unless you are using a Zener diode in the line to prevent over-voltage. I've…

Glenn Hollowell commented on Aldo Vargas's blog post Drone following a roomba
"Ooooh, nice! Thanks for sharing this. I'm impressed w/the code as well as the Big X platform. It is a nice big technical drone like I wish we'd see more of in the market. Best regards and happy holidays to you and your team!"

Glenn Hollowell replied to Glenn Hollowell's discussion Bad Compass Health in PIXHAWK
"I did just that. Didn't work after installed in the 3DR X4. So then, I swapped in the GPS/compass from the bird that I'd robbed the second Pixhawk from, and you guessed it, everything worked fine. The kicker is that when removing the suspect…"

Glenn Hollowell replied to Glenn Hollowell's discussion Bad Compass Health in PIXHAWK
"I've got two GPS/compass setups. Same errors with both. If there is a wiring problem it's gotta be inside the Pixhawk unit. Chad Frazer said:
I had a similar problem, turned out to be a crossed wire going from the gps/mag unit to the pixhawk.  Do…"

Glenn Hollowell replied to Glenn Hollowell's discussion Bad Compass Health in PIXHAWK
"The only time that I got the compass calibration dots is when the external compass is disconnected. I went through the dot chasing exercise and was able to capture offsets.

Bear in mind that I did what was probably a total wipe of Arducopter by…"

Glenn Hollowell replied to Glenn Hollowell's discussion Bad Compass Health in PIXHAWK
"Thanks for responding Martin. "Yes" to both questions: arrow is facing forwards, and light does flash blue. Both of the external compasses report "bad health" when plugged into this Pixhawk. I'm starting to think that this Pixhawk has a factory…"

Glenn Hollowell replied to Glenn Hollowell's discussion Bad Compass Health in PIXHAWK
"Okay, with 12c and GPS unplugged I can do a compass calibration. With just the GPS plugged in (and 12c cal unplugged) I can arm and spin the motors. However- I am not getting a GPS signal. I've tried this with my two uBlox units outside with an…"

"Nope, no dots in the windows. I found that curious and possibly significant.

you have no dots in the progress window? so your error is with the compass calabration?"

Glenn Hollowell replied to Glenn Hollowell's discussion Bad Compass Health in PIXHAWK
"Okay- just tried that w/no luck. My other quadcopter does have #2 checked. I just plugged it in to MP and compass is working fine (I'm in a building).

The only difference that I can see in the two configs is that in the working quad, "Onboard Mag…"
