Steve commented on DougB's blog post One way to Restore a bricked xBee
"I have like 4-6 pairs of Xbees and over 70% of the units eventually stopped working properly. On some pairs i was able to perform the unbricking procedure but are stuck on a baud rate and can't be changed.

I have long moved towards the Diy Drones…"

So our plane crashed while flight testing the APM 1.0. The aircraft simply stopped responding to pilot control as if the entire board shut off. We were not using any autopilot modes but was in manual. We recovered the autopilot as it was completely…

"How come the APM 2.0 product page is detached from the DIY Drones store? It doesn't come up in any searching and it isn't in the Ardupilot page.

However, the page itself still exists:

Our plane just went down today. The pilot was in manual mode and I was monitoring the telemetry on the GCS laptop. All of a sudden Mission Planner freezes and the pilot goes "I have no control!" The plane goes down and we have no idea what happened.…

Steve replied to Matt Landowski's discussion Created Self Learning PID Algorithm library
"Matt how are u grabbing the individual PID gain values? I thought the SLPID controller sums it all up into a single plot?

I have integrated the SLPID model with a UAV's state space matrix. So far, it isn't working. The SLPID isn't able to stabilize…"

Steve commented on Ruwan's blog post FAA Reveals List of Colleges and Police Departments That Can Fly Drones
"This list appears biased to me. Why did the FAA list some specific universities rather than an institution of universities ie. California State University, University of California, etc. There are also no details to how these schools were…"

Steve replied to Steve's discussion Return to Loiter Never Loiters at Home
"I haven't been able to get the aircraft to RTL or waypoint flight for months now kicking myself for being crappy on gain tuning, but as it turns out it wasn't the fault of the gains. The flight location I have flying in is only around 200 feet width…"

Steve replied to Jake Stew's discussion The Real Specs and Ranges for 3DR Radios!
"The radio guide claims 7.4km x 4 range with the Spireen amplifier.
http://code.google.com/p/ardupilot-mega/wiki/3DRadio

Does that mean I can almost double that range with a set of higher gain antennas with a patch antenna on ground station and omni…"

Steve replied to Steve's discussion Return to Loiter Never Loiters at Home
"I've been through the tuning process and it flies great in FBW-A and maintains altitude no matter what bank i give it.

I have been able to recreate this issue in X-Plane using a different aircraft model (w/ ailerons and rudder) by turning the Roll…"

Steve commented on Chris Anderson's blog post Futaba SBUS RC protocol reverse engineered
"Never used S Bus servos before or this S Bus decoder. Is the purpose just being able to control multiple servos through a single channel? Is there a major difference between this and connecting servos together at the wing using  Y Splitters?"
