User group for those flying ArduCopter on traditional helicopter platforms
Trex450 with pixhawk miniVbar and RPM sensor.
HelloSeems that traditional heli is fadding off .... I'm trying to check the latest ardupilot traditional heli setup on trex450, in order to later scale up to 550 and 700 helis.i'm puzzeled about using the miniVbar flybarless controler with the pixhawk. i have the pixhawk commanding the FPL controller via SBUS, and lacking the traditional throttle HOLD function.Started with flyber system, and had all work as requested, but on the FBL the throttle comand is working all time, even if the fixhawk…

OK guys. I just had my first success flight. Completely autonomous from take off to land. I just had to spool up and down the motor.
Good Morning All:
Has anyone used X-Plane 9/10 for HIL (APM 2.6) for the RC HELI that comes with X-Plane?
I saw a post by Jean-Louis Naudine using AeroSim, but I just bought X-Planes and I am having trouble with the throttle input (it does not move when flying - calibrates ok, though).
I can get HIL to work fine with PT-60 (the RC Plane).
So if anyone has flown the RC HELI in HIL mode, can you please let me know how you did it, and even you have not done it, but might have some idea about the settings etc., please let me know as well.
Regards.

Exactly who said that, where? Need more info.
For sure, vibration is the enemy of the electronics. It's best to isolate them.
Is there an issue about the durability of APM 2.5 or 2.6 on traditional helis? Will it withstand vibrations for a long period of time? Just want to confirm what someone said.
How does APM perform to other helicopters size besides Trex 450 ?
@ Jeff,
I've got the Align 450 sprot v2 and also an Align 100 to learn on. I was surprised how small the 100 was when it arrived. Oh well, could be fun.
I'm doing the tail in on the SIM, need to get back to it.

My 0.02c, only buy Align stuff and look forward to buying the PX4 in the very near future :-)
Practice on the sim, especially tail ou/ nose in flight, but nothing will teach you like actual flight time.
@Jeff,
That's great to hear! Better then I expected to hear. I'll definitely work on flying with an APM.
Another question, I remember reading of using a simulator in connection with the APM somewhere. I have the Phoenix simulator; are they anywhere with that yet?
Thanks,
Alan KM6VV
I am a new pilot as well (1-1/2 years), and LOVE my APM for learning with. It gives you self leveling which will give you time to orientate yourself again when things get out of control, also with the advances in "Agro" flight mode you can fly the heli without any stabilization then switch back to stabilize mode when you need it :-)
Crashed way too much without the APM, never crashed with it.
I've been working on adding APM 2.0 to a 6WD rover. The mechanicals need work still. I also have a Trex 450 that I built (kit), but haven't flown yet as I don't yet feel like I can fly the simulator.
After hearing that the APM 2.0 was flying the Trex 450, I'd like to ask if the stabilization of the APM would allow me to learn to fly the '450? Or should I just continue to learn to fly the SIM first? Too many toys, not enough time...
