    Craig,

Check your parameters and look for the parameter "Frame" if it's set coeectly it should have a value of 10. This equals a Y6B frame type.

I can't say for sure on your last question, however it can't hurt.

  • Nathanial,

I took the direction of your last post and did manage to find the Y6B frame type page, I merely needed to be connected and only required me clicking on the button.

But my question now is upon selecting the Y6B frame type, nothing came up to indicate it was selected? Mind you I didn't reinstall firmware or recalibrate in anyway.

So did it actually change? or do i require going through the complete firmware reinstallation?

For some reason I can connect to the pixhawk via telemetry but not with my mac via usb anymore so perhaps I need to reboot after I reinstalled APM Planner and its drivers?

    Thanks again,

    Craig.

    Craig,

After some further consideration and investigation I must change my earlier statement. That Icon is the same Icon used in Mission Planner. When you go through the initial setup in MP, you select the frame type as shown and then select the subtype Y6A or Y6B on a separate page. I can't get you a picture because the Arducopter Manual pages wont load right now. In any event I suspect the APM Planner has the same setup. I can't help you with the specifics as I've never used APM Planner. I'll keep looking around, if I find anything I'll let you know.

Bill Bonney is the lead developer. Try sending him a PM. I'm sure he can help you out.

  • Thanks Nathaniel,

I have not tried Mission Planner, as I don't own windows.

I do have a tablet running Droidplanner, but as far as I know I cannot reprogram from that, but I may be wrong.

I'm not to sure who's developing APM Planner on Mac at the moment, but I should look into that so thanks for that idea.

    Craig.

    Craig,

If the icons are the only choice then I don't see one that applies to a Y6B configuration. I only see a Y6A, bottom row third from left. I would bring this up with the APM Planner developers. As it stands it looks like there isn't support for Y6B.

Have you tried using Mission Planner instead?

    Good Luck,

  • Please Help, which is the frame type for the Y6B frame?3701876524?profile=original

  • @Nathaniel Caner

    I have created a thread http://diydrones.com/group/arducopter-y6-owners-group/forum/topics/...

Yes I meant APM Planner 2 and it is the latest build which fixes the compass calibration on the Mac.

    Thanks

  • Thanks David for the input.

    @Meavydev,

I want to make sure I understand one thing, when you say

"It was delayed by compass calibration issues with APM 2 on the Mac with 3.2."

by APM 2 are you referring to either an APM 2.0, 2.5, or 2.6 flight controller, or are you referring to to "APM Planner 2.0"? I've been assuming you were using a Pixhawk controller since we are talking about a Y6B.

All 3.2 RCxx versions and the "3.2" (same as 3.2 RC14) are all Beta versions. I know that with the Pixhawk if you were upgrading from 3.1.5 or older, to 3.2 you needed to redo the mag and acc calibrations before flying on 3.2. I'm not 100% sure about other FC.

Anyway, post the logs when you get a chance.

  • @Nathaniel Caner

I'm going to download the logs to see what the drone thought was going on but it has to wait until the weekend...

It's a standard 3DR Y6B with the 10" props, Tarot gimbal, Gopro 3+ black, the new high capacity 4s battery and the 3DR FPV kit.

It was the first flight with 3.2 as I installed it after the build and then was trying to get the compass calibration sorted before attempting to fly.

I had done a full calibration on 3.2 rc9 and the ESC calibration, but hadn't re-done it after installing 3.2 beta which is what I was trying to take off with.

It was complaining about high GPS HDOP in the prearm,  though it was reporting as a 2m fix.

Does anyone still build these? What's the state of affiars for DIY and coaxial hexacopter builds?

I've been fascinated with Y6 designs for years and have been wanting to craft my own but never had the finances to do so. FInally came into some extra cashflow and want to put it towards a drone. I just became FAA certified and have been doing this commercially as a side hustle in tourism. I currenlty have experience with DJI products. The allure of creating my own has always stuck though, as a fun side project. I've seen Y6 builds that are big enough to carry a DSLR and that's the direction I…

3DR Specs??

Does anyone have specs for 3DR Y6?  I'm looking for dimensions on all parts, but mostly for the main plates.  I can't find any spare parts, so I figured I'd manufacture my own.  I have a second Y6, but it has the old original top plate and I'd like to replace it with the one that supports the GoPro gimbal. Thanks

Pixhawk reading 0V

Hi, guys.  I know the 3DR Y6 is not as popular as it used to be, but I still need some help.  I recently dusted off my Y6 and started using it again.  I even installed a new Hero4 for 4K video with a new lens (to get rid of the fisheye effect)...The issue I have (well, one of them!) is that regardless if I connect through the MavLink or the USB cable directly to the Pixhawk, the pixhawk is reading 0.0V from the battery.  Now, the interesting thing is that BATTERY_VOLTAGE2 is reading correctly,…
