Brian commented on luke cooke's blog post Why the need For an 2,4ghz RC uplink?
"I don't know what problems you had with OPLink, but there have been some bad batches of OPLink clones that have shorted antenna connectors. Unfortunately, the hardware is all clone hardware at this point, but the firmware is still supported by the…"

Brian commented on luke cooke's blog post Why the need For an 2,4ghz RC uplink?
"The OPLink sends the RC signal inline with telemetry, and has since 2013 - well before TBS crossfire, dragonlink, and RFD900+ have been around. Longer than 3DR modems have been around for that matter.
You really don't want to send control…"

Brian commented on luke cooke's blog post Why the need For an 2,4ghz RC uplink?
"If your controller can output PPM, you can do it with a pair of OPLink modems."

Brian commented on Rick Steele's blog post XtremeOSD
"Fair enough.  I suppose an external AFSK->serial telemetry adapter could be built easily enough, so it could be supported without any modification to the board.  Whether the data updated smoothly enough would be a bit subjective I think.  It…"

Brian commented on Rick Steele's blog post XtremeOSD
"Looks very nice, but it's a bit too big and expensive for me to put on any of my air-frames.  I would consider it for a ground-based OSD, which has always made more sense to me than duplicating the functionality on every aircraft.
I assume the…"

Brian commented on DROTEK's blog post TINY RTK : The world smallest precision GPS ... and the cheapest
"@RPM: NavSpark actually had a similar module much earlier, and it's significantly less expensive, but I don't know how it compares to the ublox module.

"@KUJayhawk:  I believe the M8P supports all the standard protocols that other ublox modules support, so it should work with DJI.  The only difference is that the position estimate is/can be more accurate."

Brian commented on DROTEK's blog post TINY RTK : The world smallest precision GPS ... and the cheapest
"The M8P has the processor built-in.  It does all the calculation internal to the module."

Brian commented on DROTEK's blog post TINY RTK : The world smallest precision GPS ... and the cheapest
"@Rob_Lefebvre:  Sharing a data-link should be just a matter of software I would think, and it makes sense, since the two data streams are flowing in opposite directions.

@DROTEK: Why not integrate it with the antenna and add a mag.  Is this really…"

Brian commented on Randy Sonnicksen's blog post Full Scale Quad - I Frame Design
"The concept has been tested on a model using an OpenPilot CC3D.

It does add alot of mechanical complexity."

Brian commented on Chris Anderson's blog post HobbyKing's first RC transmitter designed specially for APM/Pixhawk
"I like the simple setup, the rotary knob, and the leds, but why are we still using 40 year old PWM/PPM technology when we know this is going to be connected to a digital flight controller?  Wouldn't a direct, bi-directional serial link be better,…"

Brian commented on Nick Arsov's blog post Ardupilot/PX4 communities : DIY hardware Innovation is still alive and well - the new XRacer V1.0
"If "RC-IN" means that there's are PWM inputs, I would think those would be easier to serve double duty as PWM output pins for those that use single-input receivers (PPM, SBus, etc)."

Brian commented on Nick Arsov's blog post Ardupilot/PX4 communities : DIY hardware Innovation is still alive and well - the new XRacer V1.0
"I understand that a CAN based ESC can support a whole lot more than existing ESCs, but I've seen so many "next-gen" ESC projects that go nowhere because they just can't compete with the $10-$20 generic ESCs that have actually gotten pretty good with…"

Brian commented on Nick Arsov's blog post Ardupilot/PX4 communities : DIY hardware Innovation is still alive and well - the new XRacer V1.0
"I like the idea of CAN, but when are we going to see mass produced, reasonably priced CAN ESCs in a wide range of sizes to compete with the existing ESCs?"
