Please tell us a bit about your UAV interest

I've used uav's to explore wild areas and for fun, ie fpv 'racing'. I spend way too much time researching the technology and I'm fascinated by its' commercial applications. Currently tweaking my smaller fpv quads and re-building bigger 700mm ap quad with rpi3+ companion.

Will Masters replied to Roly's discussion Is this a good medium rig build?
"Your propulsion system picks look good - i've used 3510 350kv motors (DJI 620S esc & 6S lipo) on pixhawk driven endurance multirotor carrying hard-mounted (vibration damped) Sony A6300.
You could probably get slightly improved efficiency with…"

Will Masters replied to Klamon's discussion Looking people who can help build drone with 10kg payload and gps system
"I've built 5-10kg AUW multirotors. I like the design and building process and am happy to help. "

Will Masters replied to Tom Bickle's discussion Could use some feedback for my store :)
"I think the orange/red background, black banner & small (header) text looks pretty busy. Otherwise I can't help much stylistically.
You've some neat products but you're asking for input on DIYdrones.com and I'm pretty sure most of us would like to…"

Will Masters replied to Ian Joyce's discussion Pixhawk Mini on ZMR250 w/ SJI Snail system - NON STOP OSCILLATION
"There's a ton of info on RCgroups as to this specific issue: https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?2749559-DJI-Snail-mi...
Most of this discussion concerns FPV/race oriented flight controllers but the problem everyone's dealing with -…"

Will Masters replied to Ian Joyce's discussion Pixhawk Mini on ZMR250 w/ SJI Snail system - NON STOP OSCILLATION
"I've built a few quads using DJI Snail propulsion system and I've had tons of problems with the proprietary ESC's - I think it's great hardware but the firmware is bigtime problematic. DJI promised a firmware update back in early 2017 to address the…"

Will Masters replied to Richard Morrissey's discussion Building a Drone for ecology work.
"In re choice of multirotor v fixed wing airframe, I think your primary consideration has to do with the scope of your intended remote sensing project. Multirotors are best suited generally for smaller sites (tens of acres per flight) whereas fixed…"

Will Masters replied to Richard Morrissey's discussion Building a Drone for ecology work.
"Unlike OG, I think you can be very successful building a custom UAV for your purposes - just don't expect this to be easy or cheap. There's tons of information online that describe how to do exactly what you wish to do but it's not all in one place,…"

Will Masters replied to Nick Moody's discussion Tarot T4-3D Gimbal using Pixhawk SBUS out? (or other options?)
"I had a T4-3D gimbal connected to my pixhawk and was able to control either 2 or 3 axis (I can't remember if the Tarot configurator allowed me to control all axis). I ran sbus from my rc rx to pixhawk. I connected the sbus out port from pixhawk to…"

Will Masters replied to Rafi Nahmani's discussion In Search of an Advanced Drone Build!
"Rafi, cool and kudos on your new job!  You can get into an intensive and 'advanced' project with your $1000 budget but it's going to be hugely limiting. You'll be priced out of many "commercial" grade components or systems - instead you'll have to…"

Will Masters replied to Rafi Nahmani's discussion In Search of an Advanced Drone Build!
"You're going to have to do a lot more prep work for this community to be of much help. What are your objectives - don't want a racing quad but do you want something for aerial photography, recreation, long range...? The fpv part of any quad build is…"

Will Masters replied to mark bellncula's discussion Pixhawk DJI ESC Issue
"I have the e800 tuned set (3510/350 motors; 620s ESC) on a custom quadcopter frame w/ pixhawk. I had a bunch of trouble getting everything to work at the very beginning but it's awesome now and worth the frustration (all the problems I had…"

Will Masters posted a discussion
I often fly in an area with some very large bluffs, canyons and such. I generally fly standing on a lip of the canyon wall as I'm less likely to inadvertently fly outside LOS, and it's frankly very difficdult to travel down into the canyons…
